The letter say which one, and since each one of the gals has some doubts about their respective breadwinners it sets up a suspenseful ending. Big noise of the film, and an unexpected smash hit in his role, is a gentleman named Paul Douglas. For the past few years Douglas has been knocking dead as the junk dealer-tycoon in Garson eminently successful comedy.

In to Three Douglas is cast as Linda husband. Kirk Douglas and Jeffrey Lynn are paired off with Ann Southern and Jeanne Crain. One of the gags is that the female home- wrecker is never an unidentified voice. Preceding into the Paramount is a murder-thriller that had a midnight showing at the same theater last Night Has A Thousand The story was taken from a short mystery yarn by Cornell Woolrich (same as William Irish), but I never recognize it if you didn't know beforehand. Woolrich story was titled to Me of I Edward G.

Robinson, John Lund and Gail Russell are starred. Ed- I ward G. is supposedly a soothsayer who can predict approaching death and brunette Gail is the lady on the spot. Lund is her protector. It has an unusual story twist at the end that should have customers standing in their seats during the last reel.

Opening at the State Theater Wednesday is a picture with a performance which Life Magazine tabbed as the greatest personal triumph by an actress last year. Florence Eldridge is the actress and the picture is Today for starring her husband Frederic March. The story deals with the problem of enthanasia, or mercy killings, with March as the judge who decides that his wife should be killed rather than suffer the terrible, incurable pains of a brain tumor. Playing secondary roles as the young romantic leads in the film are two of most able and overlooked thespians. Edmond O'Brien and Geraldine Brooks.

Filling out the list of downtown attractions is a film that seems to be a leaf out of the of Sierra and book. Titled Walking it walks Randolph Scott, John Ireland, William Bishop, Arthur Kennedy and Josh White over the Arizona sand dunes in search of a wag- onfull of gold Ella Raines along for the romantic interest and causes what will no doubt be the only surprise in the film: Randolph Scott doesn't get the Take Your Choice Apnl 3, 1949 with John and Oail Ru.s- Features 8 00 10 00 Mondar and Oall 2.00. 4 00.
