Several of them weighed six to eight pounds. Kingfish are being reeled in along the beaches from Manasquan to Spring Lake and a few fluke are reported to be in that area. Denise Lomonico of Point Pleasant fishing on Bob Scharma's boat First Com- mercial out of Brielle caught a 118-pound mako shark. Kneeley, son of and Mrs. Robert J. Kneeley, 605 Locust Road, Brielle, has received a bachelor of science degree in marketing from Widener University and served as president of his freshman and sophomore classes. He was graduated from St. Joseph's High School, Toms River, in 1982 and also is a Brielle Elementary School graduate.

He now is touring Eastern Europe and also will visit Czechoslovakia, Poland, Russia, and Hungary in conjunction with a seminar in Russian studies conducted by his brother, Richard J. Kneeley, professor at Pace University, N.Y. Upon his return to this country, the graduate will resume employment with the sales force of Eagle Equipment a restaurant supply company based in Wilmington, Del. 5 Manasquan High School's boys' varsity baseball team has accomplished something that no other Manasquan High School team ever has By defeating Jefferson High School on Saturday at Princeton University, the boys emerged with a State Group II championship and a ranking as the No. 1 high school baseball team in New Jersey.

In -many ways it was a typical Squan victory with outstanding pitching by right-hander Mike Mahady, a senior who ended up fanning 12 and yielding only two hits and with acrobatic defense by second baseman Kevin Holly. The Warriors' first' run came in the sixth inning when Justin Charpentier drove a base hit to center. Ty Hawkins pushed him over to second with a beautiful sacrifice bunt and Charpentier scored when he stole third and scrambled home on the resultant throwing error. Mahady had struck out and then alertly ran to first on the dropped third strike; Charpentier broke for third as the throw from the catcher went to first. The first baseman was forced to make what is perhaps the most difficult throw in baseball across the diamond on a stealing runner.

The throw squirted into left field and Charpentier fan home. The run was crucial because snapped a 0-0 deadlock. The Manasquan bats came alive in the seventh. Pete Sayegh slashed a single to left, stole second, and with one out, Doug Bohrer, a sophomore who drove in several clutch runs in the playoffs this year, knocked him in with a lob single to center. Bill MMrrayimd Holly walked and with two out Hawkins drove the first pitch to right, scoring Murray, and Bohrer.

Mahady walked and Elliot Morgan beat out an infield hit to score Murray. Sayegh' walk with the bases loaded gave Squan a 6-0 edge. The way Mahady had been pitching he had retired the first 14 batters he faced, pitching a perfect game until two out in the fifth six runs was more than enough. The raucous fans began celebrating late in the sixth as the 6-0 victory seemed imminent. By estimate, some 400 people were there and the majority of them were Manasquan fans.

When first baseman Scott Merriman snagged the final out, a short pop fly, the fans, dugout, and players-erupted. It was an emotional victory. The one man who must have felt the emotion more acutely than 'any other was coach Jake Landfried who announced his retirement after 12 years and 194 victories at the Warrior helm. Indeed, it must be "recognized-as victory for the entire coaching staff of jayve'e coach Pete AfMerson, who will succeed Landfried, and freshman coach Bill Smith. And there are more.

There are a lot of persons who have coached' these boys through their formative years of learning baseball. These players have been on local diamonds for the past decade their community coaches share the victory, too. As the memories replace the accolades, one thing remains to be done. Most local towns whenever their school or a resident earns such state or national recognition post signs alongside those which announce to travelers that they are entering in this case Manasquan. Such signs are warranted.

For example, Manasquan, N.J., Home of the State Group II baseball Champs and 1986 No. 1-Ranked High School Baseball Team in New Jersey. Congratulations to Kevin Holly, Elliot Morgan, and Mike Mahady on being selected by the Asbury Park Press for the first team of the All-Shore Baseball Teams this year. In addition, Ty Hawkins and Mahady were chosen for the New York Daily News All-Star Team which plays a game in Yankee Stadium in July. Hawkins also made the All-Monmouth County Team.

And congratulations to Wall High School soccer sweeper. Justina DeLisa on being selected for the All-Shore Girls' Soccer Team this year. Congratulations also to three members of the girls' varsity softball team of Manasquan High School on their selection to the first team All-Shore. They are Ginger Archbold, Nadia Clark, and Jennifer Siemaszko. In addition, Liz Janda and Chris Hilla made the All-Monmouth County unit.
