BRUCE SCHUSTER I J' I Mrs. LaReine Reilly of Sea Girt, infection control practitioner for The Northern Ocean Hospital System, has been named Employee of the Month at Point Pleasant Hospital. The hospital system operates Point Pleasant and Brick Hospitals. A registered nurse, Mrs. Reilly coordinates the infection control program and acts as liaison between hospital departments and the infection control committee.

A resident of 413 New York Boulevard, Sea Girt, Mrs, Reilly was raised in Wilson, N.C., and was graduated from Villa Maria Academy, Malvern, and Georgetown University School of Nursing, Washington, Sbe joined the staff of Point Pleasant Hospital in 1973 as an emergency room nurse and an evening charge nurse in the post coronary care unit before accepting her present position in 1981. This involves replacement of the entire signal and com munications system from Railway to South Amboy and from Matawan to Long Branch, with limited signal improvements from Long Branch to Bay Head.

The signal components of the project will result in an increase in train speeds and will provide for bi-directional train operation on each track, giving greater operations flexibility. Also included in the work is electrification of train service from Matawan to Long Branch. 'The Legislature should be in the forefront of the investigation to determine the causes of the pollution and possible remedies," he continued. "The special Senate investigative committee should have subpoena power, if to call before it officials at every level of government who can provide answers to questions about the recent pollution of our coastal waters." Investigation of these problems at the state level is necessary to resolve the vital issues, Senator Pallone said. "Shore area residents deserve some answers before the conditions of our coastal waters deteriorate any further," he concluded. Coastal waters must remain clear for swimming or the trade in Monmouth County may suffer major damage, the legislator said in a letter to Senate President Carmen Orechio. Health and environmental officials have been unable to pinpoint the cause of pollution which closed oceanfront beaches and killed fish in Jhe Shark River, he noted. The senator added Clean Ocean Action, an environmental organization, has accused the State Department of Environmental Protection of failing to detect and respond to the fish kill.
