to Aug 12 The camp is named after the lamented coach and sportsman Doc Stewart and is owned by his widow Mrs Stewart and Bill James line coach of football at Texas university It is situated on the beautiful Guadalupe river where the swim ming and fishing are of the best and where the climate is the best in tne United States as recommended by the government Completley Equipped The camp Is wonderfully equipped for a summer camp There are GOO acres of land which affords op portunties for hiking and horseback riding and the fishing and canoeing on the Guadalupe river is wonderful the waterfront extending for one and a half miles Some of the activities of the camp include Red Cross life saving teach ing of true sportsmanship safe and correct handling of small calibre rifles coaching of all major sports boxing model airplane construction and archery leather and metal work Boy Scout work and horseback rid inri Camp Stewart is located 16 miles west of Kerrville on the north fork of Guadalupe river and the equip ment is up to date and sufficient to take care of capacity enrollment There is a water front of' one and a half miles a basket ball court and gymnasium equipped with electricity There is one large pool right in the camp that Is used for swimming and boating and is equipped with spring boards swings rafts and diving platform The camp has eighteen or more horses part of which are paint ponies that are used for instruction pleasure trips and rides The large stables for the care of the horses arv equipped with individual stalls The athletic field consists of a 440 track baseball diamond two play ground diamonds three tennis courts and ample space for other sports There is also a 5 hole practice golf course The camp also operates a store for the convenience of the campers A well equipped first aid cabin is handily located The sleep ing quarters are electrically lighted screened In have running water and adjustable shutters An up to date screened in dining room and well equipped kitchen are a drawing card All meals are planned by a dietian and carefully balanced The camp also has a rifle and archery range Prinzing states that he would like to get as many boys as possible to sign up now as they can get a cut on expenses averaged around the $10(X) mark Per Biliv AVebb who replaced Pratt a Galveston gets $350 per month could not land diculous the Texas Aggies evened the series with the Baylor Bean at Katy park Saturday afternoon by a score of 2 to 1 It was a battle between Jimmy Parks of Bay lor and Scheer of the armers Scheer had Just about the edge that the score indicates although A and did not earn their two runs In fact with jam up fielding by both teams there would have been no scoring Poor base running however cost the armers one run and per haps more On one occasion with none out Mooty tried to score from first on a double He left third as the second baseman got the ball and was out at the plate The Star Hitter Connelley was the star hitter of the afternoon He figured in the scoring for the Aggies making both runs or the Bears Cowboy Reeves did exceptionally well at bat Kroney the hitting hero of the day before got a horse collar in this game but he was walked on two occasions The Aggies got their first run in the second when Connelley singled went to second on Kroney's error to third on an out ana scorea Garvey's rousing single The Second Run a Gift rom all indication the Dixie league is going to be a success All men connected with it are wise In baseball lore They have great knowledge of the game from a financial point of view 0 Charles Turner who president of the Waco team had long and varied experience in professional baseball He is one of the best versed baseball men in the state of Texas His opinions are al ways sought by the most learned of the baseball men He believes that Dixie league baseball in Waco will towara member just about two entered the race the annual cup race is getting off to a great start this season With Waco a member or the Dixie league it is likely that the title which nas gone to a Waco team for the last two years will again pass from this city It is noted that Waco has never won a cup race title when the city had a pro fessional entry Waco was in protes stonal baseball every year of the cup race save 1922 1931 and 1932 In 1922 the Cameron Comets won the title In 1931 the Waco Packers won and last year the title was won by Walker Drycleaners Champions Not Entered The champion of 1931 is not en tered and neither is the champion of 1932 The Rosebud Roses cham pions of 1930 are not entered and neither is the Sharp team entered It won in 1929 '1 ne West team a champion in 1926 1927 and 1928 is not entered but Don Ashley may get the fever
