Stolen Washington, Cleveland, 12- Feller Takes 12th, 2 To 2-Game Lead CLEVELAND, golden goal of 30 victories for Bob Feller this season is no hollow dream but Cleveland pennant hopes may be unless some other Indian hurler strikes winning form pronto. Golden Boy Feller hung up his 12th triumph of the year as he blanked the troublesome Philadelphia Athletics on four hits yesterday by a score of 2 to 0.

The ex-Iowa farm toiler has reached such greatness that his pitching feats have become tine but it will be more to the point for Indian pennant aspirations what Jim Bagby, Al Milnar, Mel Harder or Al Smith can do against the A's over the weekend. The Indians unimpressive record for the last 12 games is eight defeats and four of the latter coming from the strong arm of Feller. Struck Out 11. He was at his best yesterday, striking out 11 and walking none for his fourth shutout of the year. His last strike out came in the ninth frame when he whiffed Bob Johnson with a runner on third base, the first and only one to reach that far station during the game.

Feller has fanned 101 for the Reason. Robert had to be good as the Indian attack was something short of terrific. The Tribe collected eight hits off Bill Beckman but only one of their two runs was earned. That came from a double by Jeff Heath and a single by Roy Weatherly. The victory stretched the Indian first place lead over second place Chicago to two games as the White Sox lost to Boston.

FIGHTS LAST NIGHT Nova, 207 Oakland, knocked out Jim Robinson, 211, Philadelphia, (3) Gray Flynn heavyv eight, Louisville, and Jimmy Detroit, drew By JOSEPH F. HEARST COLONIAL CLUB, FORTH WORTH, Tex. men with a chance to win the National Open golf championship 66 hardy survivors of the worst weather to plague the 45-year-old out today to play their final 36 holes. From early morning until dusk yesterday these men, the best golfers in the world, pitted their skill and endurance against rain that fell in torrents, wind that carried balls off line and water that made wading pools of the greens and morasses of the fair ways. Lightning flashed andthun der rolled but it failed to unnerve the class of the field that originally numbered 163.

Twice the U. S. G. A. officials, who never have postponed a I round, had mercy on the drenched golfers and halted play.

Each time the rain slackened a little play was resumed. Because of the delay those who teed off late almost finished by candle light. In fact, two, one with an excellent chance to tie the leaders, stopped play after the 15th hole and will complete their round today. Leading the parade with 144 strokes each were the defending champion, Lawson Little, Denny Shute, the graying veteran from Chicago, Clayton Heafner of Linville, N. and Craig Wood of Mamaroneck, N.

the winner of the Augusta Masters tournament. Of the four, Wood had the best round, a one over par 71. Heafner went around in 72, Little took 73 strokes and Shute, the first day leader, needed 75. Snead Has Best Round While this quartet was forging into a one-stroke lead on the field, Slammin' Sammy Snead, the West Virginia clouter, shot the best round, an even par 33-35 that included five birdies and five bogeys. On holes where his tremendous wood drives might cause trouble he used an iron.

His round put him at 146, two strokes off the -SIX baseball clubs this vicinity will see action' Sunday afternoon, and three baseball leagues go into action. Other Firelands League are: Milan Boosters vs Olena Tigers at Olena, Marblehead Red Caps at La Grange, and Sandusky Independents at Grafton. All games start at 2:30.

How They Stand AMERICAN LEAGUE TWO MAIN-EVENTS FEATURED ON MAT CARD MONDAY Promoter Les Fishbaugh's double main-event wrestling card at Fisher's hall Monday night is expected to prove popular with fans.

For the feature match, Billy Rayburn is paired with Walter Miller. This is a return skirmish, and promises plenty of action. Raburn is one of those fast, scientific wrestlers, while Mililer turns to the rougher tactics. In a bout between such types of wrestlers, it usually proves interesting to watch the scientific performer out-smart the rougher opponent. The second main-event has Ali Pasha, Calcutta, India, meeting Bobby Castle of Kansas City, Mo.

There is reason to believe that this bout will develop into a rougn affair. Prelim opens the card at 8:30 m. Draft Questionnaire Arrives For Feller, May Get Call Sept. 1 LEVELAND, (UP) Bob Feller, the Cleveland Indians' and the American League ace pitcher, receives his draft questionnaire today and local selective service officials indicated that the strike-out king had an even chance of being called by Sept. 1 for army duty.

His questionnaire was mail- el yesterday as he won his 12th victory of the year against two defeats. Feller's order is 2,857 in a draft board that has 3,830 registrants. Order numbers of men to report for army induction by June 16-20 will reach order No. 1,644. It was reported previously that it was unlikely he would be called before the end of the baseball season.

Feller, 22, is unmarried and while his home is in Van Meter, Iowa, he registered in Cleveland. "I won't ask for deferment and only want the same treatment as everybody else," Feller said. "Everyone has to do his part." Club W. L. Pet.
