PAGE 42 SANDUSKY REGISTER DEC, 9, MS A Few Good Reasons Why 1 Love Lucy' By DU BROW HOLLYWOOD (UPI) -Miss Lucille Ball is really something! to be appreciated, savored and treasured. Because she is on with her own television series each week, we probably take her for granted much more than we should. When she appears on something like the second edition of Danny Thomas' "Wonderful World of Burlesque" on NBC-TV Wednesday night, her fantastic endurance suddenly hits you. Miss Ball, as you know, is not exactly a kid just out of the chorus. That incredible lady is past for instance, if you saw her on the premiere of CBS-TV's Steve Lawrence variety series in September, you will remember her amazing shape, form and dancing style as she stirred up a storm in a formal getup and tights.

Wednesday night, on the Thomas outing, which also starred Jerry Lewis and Shirley Jones. Miss Ball was involved In nothing less than the three following routines: "butterfly" dance in which she was suspended in the air by way of invisible wires, and proved once again that she has no parallel in this day and TRANSISTOR It RADIOS RECORD 10 7A PLAYERS TABLE QC RADIOS TELEVISION 84.88 TELEVISION 99.88 TELEVISION 109.95 TELEVISION 158.00 STEREOS 54.95 Used TELEVISIONS 1 0 OF As Lew As I 7.73 FOR OUR SPECIAL PAYMENT PLAN for G.E. Miss Ball's hip movements in this prkrelesslv comic undulations and slithering- were not only great fun, but, more to tile point of the show, were in the fine and accurate tradition of those underrated burlesque comediennes whose hips punctuated their dialogue. The hour was created as an encore to last season's topflight first edition of Thomas' "Wonderful World of Burlesque." And though Wednesday night's outing had some downs as well as ups, there was plenty of fun in the presentation, certainly enough so that these "burlesque" hours should be regular yearly productions, no matter whether they are always wonderful or just good or sometimes so-so. OUR BOARDING HOUSE Mater Hooplt Hey, Charlie Brown! It's Christmas Time NBC President On The Way Out NEW YORK (UPI) -Robert. E. Kintner, the president of the National Broadcasting Co.

No date has been set, but lawyers for Kintner and the network are said to be negotiating a settlement of his contract, which expires at the end of this year. Scott. now president of the NBC television network, will become chief executive officer of NBC, and Julian Goodman, now executive vice president of news, will become chief administrative officer. Scott probably will be named board chairman later, and Goodman, president, the source indicated. Although rumors of the shakeup had circulated Tuesday, tlie moves came as a surprise since NBC's current position in the TV rating wars was a strong one, and corporate earnings were up. By VERNON SCOTT UPI Hollywood correspondent HOLLYWOOD (UPI) -Good grief, Charlie Brown and his comic strip are coming to television for a Christmas special.

It will mark the televfetom entertainment debut for Snoopy, Lucy, Linus, Schroeder, Pig Pen and that- blockhead, Charlie Brown. The gang has appeared in recent years in 'commercials for an automobile manufacturer. The chracters will remain the same under the direction of Bill Melendez, who does the animination. But the guy in overall charge of Peanuts is, naturally, Charles Schulz whose daily strip is one of the most popular and widely circulated in the country. The show, "A Charlie Brown Christmas," will air Dec.

9 via OBS-TV. The question is, why did Schulz finally agree to a Peanuts show after turning a deaf ear to producers for years? "I wouldn't have done the show without Bill Melendez," Schulz explained. "He has a real feeling for the characters, and wouldn't do anything outside their realm. "I also found a producer with whom I could work. He's Lee Mendelson, and he knows what Bill and I have in mind for Peanuts." The animated special finds Charlie Brown disenchanted with the commercialization of Christmas.

In searching for the true spirit of yuletide, he asks the misanthropic Lucy for help. She puts him in charge of a Christmas play which, inevitably, is a disaster under Charlie's bumbling direction. Ultimately good old Charlie Brown is mollified when his bedraggled Christmas tree is decorated by the other peanuts. While Schulz favors occasional television specials, he is OUT OUR WAY By J. R.
