auer- Mlfann auer- K/Krann auer- imirann from club luncheon return of the costume suit Miss Erdman To Visit Waco Winner of a $10,000 creative writing award, and subject of a story in the current Readers Digest, Miss Loula Grace Erdman of Canyon will be a visitor in Waco next week end. She is to be guest speaker for the formal dinner which ¡¿eta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, honorary teachers’ sorority, is holding in Alexander Hall of Baylor University Saturday at 6 p. m. Miss Erdman’s prize-winning novel, "Years of the Locust,” was published by Dodd-Meade Co. and appeared in condensed form in the Red Book Magazine during the Summer under the title “Lest W'e Lose Our Eden." When she went to New York to receive the Red Book*Dodd~Meade award, reporters asked her if she would stop teaching and her answer, *’Ot course not" won her headlines and one of the interviews with her Is reprinted in Readers Digest. She teaches creative English at West Texas State Teacher» College, Canyon. She will arrive in \\ aco bv plane Saturday and will be the house guest of Miss Gladys Allen. 1917 South Ninth. Ross, 2211 Sanger Avenue. ♦ ♦ ♦ Kansas City Residents Are Guests of Wacoans Mr. and Mrs. Cuthbert Powell of Kansas City, Mo., were guests this week of their son. Robert Powell, and Mrs. Powell. They departed on Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Powell have been residing with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John B. Fisher, 910 North Eighteenth Street, and will soon move into their new residence at b20 North Thirty-first Street. ♦ ♦ ♦ Francis Mitchells Back From Trip to Michigan Mr. and Mrs. Francis Mitchell, 2526 MacArthur Road, returned this week end from Detroit, Mirh. They have been aw'ay for a w'eek. ♦ ♦ ♦ Col. William T. Merry To Visit A. I). Sanfords Col. William T. Merry of Mo Allen will arrive today to visit Mr. and Mrs. Allan D. Sanford. Crawford Apartments, and his daughters, Mrs. David Carlisle Willis of 1-ake Waco and Mrs. Nicholas Perkins of Alexandria, Va., who is visiting Mr. and Mrs. Willis. Mrs. Perkins and her son, Peter Remington, will leave on Thursday to return to their home. ❖ ♦ « Wacoans Will Attend Army-Notre Dame Tilt Mr. and Mrs. Fred Simon, 1735 Sout h Tent h Street, leave Tuesday for South Bend, Ind., where they will attend the Notre Dame-Army foobtall game there next week end. They will go on the train with a group of Dallas Notre Dame alumni. Mr. Simon is a graduate of Notre Dame, ♦ ♦ ♦ Emil Richters Mark Silver Wedding Date Mr. and Mrs. Emil Richter celebrated their silver wedding anniversary at their home at 3205 South Fourth Street. Mr. and Mrs. Richter were married In October, 1922, at Trinity Lutheran Church of Riesei with Rev. H Studtmann officiating. They have one son, Bernhard, and two daughters, Mildred and Helen. ♦ ♦ ♦ Julian Hardin Urill Wed In Washington Rites Julian Hardin, 2919 Ethel Avenue, will leave Tuesday for Washington, D. C. He and Miss Ruth Boggess will be married on Nov. 8 in that city. Miss Boggess is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Boggess. The couple will return to W’aco later in November and will reside at the above address. Dr. and Mrs. Eric Stromberg of Taylor will also attend the wedding.
