Wright, federal credit unions in West Virginia showed an 18.2 per cent gain in assets during the calendar year of 1965, reaching a new high of $31,889,000. Wright is regional representative of the Bureau of Federal Credit Unions. Members' savings (shares) reached a new high of $27,593,000, which is an average of $482 per member for the 57,224 members of the 140 federal credit unions in West Virginia.

Loans outstanding at the end of the year totaled $24,241,000. According to wight Billings, manager of the Beckley Social Security District Office, there are six federal credit unions in this area. National figures reveal that the 8,640,000 members of the 11,543 federal credit unions in the 50 states, Guam, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands had total shareholdings of over $4.5 billion, averaging $525 per member at the end of the year.
