Follett was the 667th Horizon Club member to be accepted to attend the Horizon Club Conference Afloat, touring the Caribbean.

"I WAS A little surprised when I found out I would be going," Miss Schaefer said. "I applied two years ago, and I've for about a year and a half that I was accepted. Rebecca related that her Horizon Club was informed of the event by their leader, Mrs. Henry Stonerook. To be a member of a Horlaon Club and to be one of the first 1,000 girls to apply were the only requirements necessary for acceptance.

"THERE IS ONE other girl from Sandusky on the waiting list," she said, "but there are also 2 or 3,000 others waiting." Miss Schaefer, 14, will leave Cleveland by chartered bus for New York, July 7. On July 8, the 1,000 girls will leave New York on the Ship M-S Aurelia, of Genoa, Italy. The three stopping ports on the tour include Puerto Rico, Colombia, and Jamaica. "While we are on the ship we will have classes to learn about the different countries while we are sailing there," Rebecca said. "THIS IS THE first time the national conference has been conducted like this," said, "and done by traveling.

The purpose is to unite Camp Fire girls of both countries, to promote world Camp Fire organizations, and to promote a better understanding between the countries. I'm anxious to see how other groups organize, what their activities are, etc." Rebecca also reported that a uniform dress will be worn by the girls at all times while in port, which will be two or three days each. The uniform includes two A line skirts, one navy blue and one white; two white shells, trimmed in navy blue; one while blazer with the Camp Fire emblem on the pocket; bermudas) a roll-up sleeve and a red shoulder bag with the Camp Fire emblem on it.
