Monday Afternoon, January 6, 1964 lire Bred Business And Industry Baby Shop Will Move To A New Main Street Location Shortly The Baby Shop, a Beckley institution since 1929 and one of Ihe first shops in the stale de- voled exclusively to children and babies, will move about Fob, 1 to 120 Main St. The new location on the opposite side of Ihe slrcel from ils present siore is between Embee's and Ihe E. M. Payne Co, and was formerly occupied by the Cannon Shoe Store.

It is owned by the Hedrick Estate. PHILLIP BSHARAH, owner of The Baby Shop, said the new location will afford approximately a third more space than he has at present and he plans to expand his line to include clothing for slightly older children than he carries at present. Bsharah left for New York Sunday on a buying trip. All stock in the present store is being clear away at reduced prices to avoid (he necessity of moving it. The business was originally opened -at 308 Neville St.

by Bsharah's father, the late Andrew Bsharah. Bsharah joined the firm when he returned from Service as an Air Force Pilot in World War IT and operalcd the shop for some time in cooperation with two of his sisters, Miss Jennie and Miss Edith Bsharah who now live in Florida. Bsharah is a Beckley native and a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. He is a member of the Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce, (he Masons, the Shrine, Elks, and St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, where he is a member of the Vestry.

Her teammate will work in the agriculture phase of the irogram designed to assist the West Pakistan Deparlnrent of Agriculture in training personnel in modern agricultural cx- methods and plant production techniques. Volunteers will conduct one- year training course in agricultural extension methods. This program will be administered by the Future Farmers of America and the New Farmers of America under the general supervision of the Peace Corps.

Miss McClanahan, an art major at Beckley College, also expects to teach adult classes. She is considered a capable artist who has done much art work hoth as a student at Shady Spring High and at Beckley College. The volunteers will participate in several projects in development of cooperatives, agricul tural improvement, and public works. The co-operative project will help the government of West Pakistan in its effort lo resettle some 10,000 landless refugees and increase the productivity ol the land. The volunteers will seek to improve the utilization of farm machinery, animal power, maintenance facilities, and to improve the methods of urchasing a marketing trough co-ops.

Civil engineers and construe- ion assistants will comprise the ural public works group going East Pakistan. The volun- eers will plan and participate in the construction of roads, mall bridges, irrigation and Irainage systems, and school md community buildings. The volunteers studied Pun- ab, Urdu, or Bengali, depend- ng on the area to which they vill be assigned. Instruction also included area studies of 5 akistan, a review of American lislory and inslitulions, and a sharpening of their technical skills. Nearly 7,000 volunteers are at vork in 4G countries of Africa, Asia and Latin America.

was charged with drunken driving by city police Sunday. Beckley police said Hajash. driving a 1955 model car, crashed against a parked 1952 truck owned by Howard D. Ware 109 Austin Ave. at 6:30 p.m.

Hajash, 44, suffered cuts of nose, eyes and right forearm and several teeth were knocket out, police reported. He a treated at Raleigh General Hos pital and discharged. The accident occurred a South Kanawha Street and Austin Avenue. Stale Police, Sunday, said the 12-year-old boy apparently slid in front of a car driven by Henry C. Nichols, 5fi, of Welch on a dirt road leading lo W. Va. 3 near Ihe Hickory Inn on Sunday. The boy became caught under the front bumper of the 1963 model car, officers reported, adding he was dragged about six or eight feet.

Damage to the car was estimated at $80, including a damaged strip of chrome leading underneath the car. "He is the son of Mrs. May Harmon and the late Mr. Harmon of Harper Heights. No charges were placed against Nichols, police said.
