I have to say, I was impressed. Not being a real big fan of theme eateries, I had put off the journey. When the restaurant first opened, it was done so as a licensee of the WWF, which didn't take a large responsibility in running the complex. That changed in May when the WWF bought back the franchise rights from the 905 Parkview Group.

The organization is now in the midst of a turning WWF New York into an "entertainment experience." That is exact here as well. In addition to the WWF memorabilia, there are plans to add more attractions that will enhance the experience. They plan on adding a camera system that, while patrons walk down the steps to the restaurant, will take their pictures and then superimpose them into a wrestling scene. They also plan to have WWF title belts there that people can take their picture with, as well as a game where people can "wrestle" as their favorite stars. Bumps and Bruises The WWFs SummerSlam pay-per-view last Sunday was one of the best shows of the year.

You enter the complex off of Broadway and are immediately in the merchandise area. The store has all of the most popular WWF items, as well as things that are unique to WWF New York.

After that, you go down the stairs into the restaurant itself. The first thing you see is the stage area, where more and more the WWF has been filming angles for their shows (such as one with the Dudley Boyz on this week's It is a state of the art setup. Another thing that sets the complex apart from its peers is the 27-foot television screen. It shows all of the WWF programs when they air on TV. Obviously, a major draw to the restaurant is airing the WWF shows in an environment where people share a love for the business.

In addition to "Raw" on Mondays, "Smack-down" airs on Tuesdays, uncut as it is taped live. Then, there is a special version of "Smackdown" on Thursday that has WWF New York exclusive footage while the home viewer sees commercials. He had a supportive sponsor and a team owner with Winston Cup championship credentials. However, the season hasn't turned out as well as planned, and this week Wallace sought, and was granted, his release as a driver for Andy Petree Racing.

So far this season Wallace is 29th overall in points Winston awards bonus money to only those 25th and higher and he hasn't finished in the top 10 at all this year. Word is Wallace is in line to take over the No. 27 Eel River Pontiac now driven by Mike Bliss. Wallace will remain with APR through the end of the season. "We had our successes at Andy Petree Racing, but at this point in my racing career I feel a certain urgency to do more with the time I have left," said the younger brother of series champion Rusty Wallace.

"In the best interest of myself and everyone at Andy Petree Racing, I felt that a change was in order." Wallace has had a six-year relationship with sponsor Square which traveled with him from his previous owners to Andy Petree's shop. That partnership will end with Wallace's departure. Safety first: Jeff Burton this week tested a new safety system that would help in cases of a stuck throttle, which has been blamed for the racing deaths of Adam Petty and Kenny Irwin.
