The plane was en route from Oakland to Tacoma, At 4:15 p.m. the plane stopped in Eugene for fuel and 45 minutes later reported wing icing and loss of altitude.

Bearings were given with directions for returning to Eugene- but Thomas was not heard from again. Seachers Sunday were hampered by low clouds but yesterday the wreckage was spotted by an Air Force helicopter pilot who saw a shred of the plane hanging from a tree. The bodies were reached late in the afternoon and removed to a-mort ary in Sweethome. Federal officials said that all four members of the fami- -ly had died instantly in the crash. Dlanne taurine v. Robert L. MORAGA Army Sgt. Terence 25, was due home from Vietnam last Sun day on a 30-day leave, but his orders were delayed through Mrs. Isabel French Dies at 90 Mrs.

Isabel French, 90, widow of the late conservationist Harold French, died yesterday in Oakland after a long illness. She had been living with her daughter, Mrs. Muriel Tyson of 257 38th and was also the mother of the late John French. A native of Wilkes Barre, the Isabel Borthwick was attending normal school in Los Angeles when she met her future husband. Mr.

French was on his way to Alaska to work as an assayer; on his return the couple was married in San Francisco in 1901. Mr. French was founder of the Contra' Costa Hills and he and his wife counted John Muir among their friends. Mrs. French taught in private schools.

She enrolled at the University of California to complete preparation for teaching English when the couple's own children were students there. Mrs. French was an East-bay resident for 67 years, and her daughter recalls donating clothing to refugees- from the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. The Frenchs lived to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary before his death in 1962. Services will be held at 2 p.m.
