Joseph T. Klapper, director of social research for the Comumbia Broadcasting System (CBS), told the President's Study Commission on Violence that he was not impressed by laboratory experiments, in which movies of aggressive behavior prompted children to beat their dolls.

Walter Menninger, -Topeka, psychiatristj criticized Klappen for. devot- "19 pages to testimony to snooting down ouier researcn studies" without giving the commission anything "to indicate what responsibility CBS feels, what they have done and what they will do." But he said any CBS studies on television violence would be "sneered at or rejected purely because the money came from CBS."
