FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, DEMPSEY SUCCEEDS NIEMER AS LEGION HEAD Hudson Falls, Post Elects Slate; Installation: Set for Oct. 14 James Dempsey has been: elected commander of Hudson Falls Post, American Legion, to succeed, Hall G. Niemer. William Cornell has been named first vice commander with Guy P.

DuPell second vice commander, and, commander. Arnold Hermens, Other elected are: adjutant, thony Cirino; chaplain, Fred Davies; historian, Edward sergeant Harold Herzog. of the county committee are James Dempsey, William Cornell and Arnold Hermens, with Jeremiah J. Moynihan, Harry Leavy and Hall G. Niemer, alternates.

The installation of the newly elected officers will take place Monda, evening, Oct. 14, at Legion Hall. The officers will be installed by County Commander Harold L. Douglas of Granville. Mrs.

Ledley Is Home On Terminal Leave Mrs. John D. Ledley, the former Elizabeth La Varn, returned this week from Camp Dix, N. on a 60- day terminal leave. She will receive her discharge from the U.

8. Army Nurse Corps Nov. 24. While at Camp Dix, Mrs. Ledley was entertained at a dinner at Hotel Roosevelt, New York, by five former companions, who served with her in foreign service.

The group comprised the Misses Mary McBean of Togas, Grace Moore, Westfield, Anne Turcotte, Clinton, Esther O'Connell, Brookline, and Grace Smith of Framingham, Mass. During the war Mrs. Ledley served in the Palestine area and at Joshat, India, returning by plane to this country Jan. 1, 1945. She has since been serving in the Army hospital at West Point.

She is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harold LaVarn and on Aug. 31 was married A to John D. Ledley of Hartford.

They will reside in Hartford. Hay Opens Work Shop Frederick T. Hay, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert C.

Hay, Park Place, who served in the Navy in World War IL, has opened Hay's Work Shop at Willow Street, where he is engaged in the manufacture of cabinets, kitchen cubboards, room closets, chests of drawers and other articles. TO SERVE SUPPER The Willing Workers the Kingsbury Baptist Church will serve a variety supper today beginning at 5 P.M. at the Parish House. The public is invited. A free will offering will be taken.

TO HONOR LATE MEMBER Members of Sandy Hill Lodge, 372, F. and A. M. will meet at 8 this evening at the home of their late brother, Paul H. Wilcox, Willow Street, where services will be conducted.

Peter's Church, which will be followed by a parade. A band concert and street dance tomorrow from 6 P. M. to 10 P. M.

precedes the fireworks display at the West Avenue airport at 10.30. Tony Brooks' orchestra will play for the street dance Sunday from 7 to 10 P. M. The Beekman and Oak Street section has been decorated for the fete. Helen Bilonos, Ballsion, Bride of John DaBell SARATOGA SPRINGS Miss Helen E.

Bilonos, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph A. Bilonos of Ballston Spa, and John F. DaBell of Baliston Spa, son of the late Mr.

and Mirs, Frederick DaBell of this city, married at 9:30 A. M. Sept. 21 in St. Mary's Church.

The Rev. Vincent de Paul Archambault officiated. Mrs. Joseph B. Nealon, sister of the bride, was matron of honor and Joseph Zuromski, cousin of the man.

Ushers were William 8. Kelley bride, from Rhode Island, WAS best and Mitchell Bilonos. The bride wore a white mid-Victorian gown with net skirt, moonbeam taffeta bodice and bonnet with finger tip illusion veil. She carried a prayer book with streamers of white roses and swansonia. Mrs.

-Nealon wore a gown of pink taffeta and pink lace mitts and carried a cascade of pink roses and delphinium. The bride attended Ballston Spa School and is employed at the Ballston Motor Sales. The bridegroom attended Saratoga High School and is employed at the Gideon Putnam Hotel. Er. and Mrs.

DaBell will reside at 38 Mechanic Street, Ballston Spa. Motorists Reminded Of School Bus Rules SARATOGA SPRINGS Motorists are reminded of the strict enforcement of the law requiring that traffic in both directions must stop when a school bus is stopped and receiving or discharging passengers. Troopers here report they have apprehended a number of violators. Hudson Falls St. Rose Student MISS JEANNE LAFAY Miss Jeanne LaFay, daughter of Mr.

and Mrs. J. Ernest LaFay, 39 Ferry Street, Hudson Falls, has entered the College of St. Rose, Albany, to take a commercial and Ianguage course for teaching. Miss LaFay was graduated from Hudson Falls High School in the class of 1946 at the age of 15.

She was the youngest member of her class and one of the youngest graduates the school. During the past Summer, she managed the LaFay Market with the help of her brother, John. VFW TO CONTINUE CLEARING OF LOT Commander Louis V. Thompson of Mayotte-MacNaughton Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars, announces that work of clearing brush from the lot purchased by the organization in Main Street North of Walnut Street will be continued at 1. P.

M. tomorrow and asks that members cooperate in the undertaking. Two weeks ago tomorrow afternoon a part of the ground was cleared. Members are asked to report promptly with brush hooks, hatches and axes. It is hoped that the lot will be put in presentable appearance by tomorrow's activities.

The Post expects to erect a building there to be known as a memorial home. Munson Will Recorded The will of William T. late of the Village of Granville, who with Patrick G. Tierney conducted coal business in that place, has been recorded at the county clerk's office. The decedent bequeathed to Patrick G.

Tierney his half interest in the business in trust with income to go for the support of his wife, Mrs. Maude Munson, during her lifetime. Mr. Munson also left to Mr. Tierner in trust for the grand, son of the decedent, William T.

T. Munson, 320 shares of The Texas Corporation. The remainder of the estate is left to the widow. David J. McHenry and Patrick G.

Tierney are named as the executors. The witnesses to the instrument were Joseph McCormick, Paul V. McCormick and David J. McHenry, The will was executed January 7, 1942. Deeds Recorded following real estate transfers in Washington County have been a recorded at the county clerk's office: LeRoy A.

PATIENT IN HOSPITAL Lester Nassivera, Broad Street, bus driver for many years for the Hudson Transportation Company, is receiving treatment in the Glens Falls Hospital, He was removed to the hospital earlier in the week in a -serious condition. Gertrude Driscole, village and town health nurse. Health officials expressed themselves pleased with the splendid con operation of the parents and thanks are extended to Mrs.

and Mrs. Hugh Fraser, Coleman Avenue, who served with the Marines in World War II, receiving an honorable discharge earlier in the year, will leave soon for Utica where he will enter Mohawk College. Dominick Binetti, who was recently discharged from military service Monday will enter Siena College at Loudonville. He is graduate of the Hudson Falls High School. He and Mrs.

Binetti, recently married, have taken possession of an apartment at the Hill residence at 4 North Oak Street. Mrs. Binetti will remain in this village while her husband is in college and Mr. Binetti will return to Hudson Falls for the week-ends. Vincent M.

Brazier, son of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Brazier, Preston Street, who served in the Army six years and was honorably discharged several months ago, will in the near future enter Niagara University, Niagara Falls. He has been employed at the Socony Vacuum Station at Main and Elm Streets. Pep Rally Tonight The first pep rally conducted recently in the Senior High School has been reported successful.

The rally was staged. under the leadership of Homer P. Dearlove, principal of the Senior High School, and Harold Stone, director of recreation. The second pep rally will be staged at 7 this evening at the gymnasium when program of songs, cheers, movies and dancing will be carried out. CODINGTON PROMOTED Russell Codington, son of Mr.

and Mrs. Lee Codington, has been promoted to captain in the Officers Reserve Corps. On inactive status, he is employed as a pilot by TransWorld Airlines. Mr. and Codington and daughter, Joyce, recently visited Capt.

Mary Stevens, Spa, Wed in Philadelphia SARATOGA SPRINGS Miss Mary Eleanor Stevens, daughter of Mrs. George R.

Stevens of 195 West Circular Street, became the bride of John W. Davidson at a ceremony performed at 4 P. M. Sept. 14 at St.

James Rectory, Philadelphia, by the Rev, Father O'Rourke. The bride wore tan suit with harmonizing accessories and an orchid corsage. Mrs. Davidson served two and half years in the Navy Nurses Corps, a year of which was in China. She was commissioned an ensign in August, 1943.

She is a graduate of St. Peter's Academy and of the Nathan Littauer Hospital School of Nursing in Gloversville. Before entering the Naval service she was on the Saratoga Hospital nursing staff, Mr. Davidson was honorably discharged from the Navy with the rank of pharmacist mate, first class. He now is employed in the General Electric X-ray Laboratories, Philadelphia.

Mr. and Mrs. Davidson reside at 3716 Walnut Street, Philadelphia. TO ATTEND SERVICES SARATOGA SPRINGS Company, commanded by Capt. William A.

Phillips, will attend the memorial services for former members of the 105th Infantry, NYNG, and the 2nd NYG, who died in service, at 4 P. M. Sunday at St. Paul's. Church, Troy.

GIVEN PARTY TICONDEROGA Miss Geraldine Gibbs entertained at a corn roast as a farewell party for Miss Janet Jackson, who has entered the Albany Business College, and Miss Dorothy Durkee, who has entered the Memorial Hospital in Albany to take a nurses' training course. Several young people attended. A social time was spent. David Evans of Ludlow, a former circus acrobat turned evangelist, will be the principal speaker at the Pri-County Youth for Christ Rally which will be held in the South Glens Falls First Baptist Church: tomorrow starting at 7:45 P.

M. The program also will include special organ and instrumental music as well as a Hyely song service under the direction of the Rev. Lewis Stewart of Cossayuna. The Rev, Mr. Evans is now engaged in full-time evangelistic work, and the first two weeks in October he plans to hold services in Cineinnati, It is not expected that this accomplished speaker will visit this area again for some time.

The Youth For Christ rallies are Interdenominational and all young people, as. well as adults, of every denomination are cordially invited to attend. Denver Youth Pleads Guilty of Larceny. ALBANY, Sept. 26 (P). Harvey M. Glatman, 18, of Denver, pleaded guilty to first degree larceny today.

County Judge: Earl Gallup deferred sentence until Oct. 10. Glatman was indicted on a charge of second degree robbery in connection with the "toy gun" theft of $28-from. Florence Hayden last Aug, 22. The charge was reduced on recommendation of District Attorney Julia B.
