She will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her Hal, Bonita Turner and Ainslie daughters, grandchildren, three greatgrandchildren, two nephews, one niece and their families, as well as many special friends. on September 10, 2007. Barney was born in Cromer, Norfolk, on March 16th 1923. His father and elder sister died when he was very young. In 1938, he and his mother, Annie, immigrated to Edmonton, Alberta excelled where Barney made at the Technical School. In 1941, at 18, Barney left school to join the Royal Canadian Navy.

He became a Petty Officer, First Class, and served on convoy escort duty in the Atlantic and Mediterranean theatres between 1943 and 1945. Before moving to Victoria in 1969, where he worked for the Department of Highways, Barney spent many years working out of the Edmonton office of the federal Department of Transport as an electronic technician. This work involved long arctic which he photographed extensively. He always affection for Edmonton and the North. electrician Barney was a mechanic.

gifted He carpenter, and anything, fix anything. He was also an intellectual and read widely. He was a talented artist and photographer. He wrote beautifully. He was funny.

He was actually able to help his kids with their high school homework, be it math, physics or English composition. His greatest regret was that he had not gone to university. Barney is survived by his former wife, Peggy, their six children: Jeff, Cathy, Barbara, Margaret and Jamie, three grandchildren: Natalie, Alexandra and Michael, and by Lotti Fielding, his loving companion for the past 20 years. A memorial service will be held at the First Memorial Services chapel at 1155 Fort Street, Victoria, on Monday September 17, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. A reception will follow at Hampshire Road in Oak Bay.

-178234 IRVING, Allison (Nee: Sheppard) June 4, 1921 September 7, 2007 Allison passed away peacefully at Langley Memorial Hospital with her family at her side. Born in Biggar, Saskatchewan, Al commenced her career in Alberta before coming to B.C. in 1964 and ultimately retiring from Langley Memorial Hospital as Administrative Assistant in 1982. Predeceased by her husband Harry, brother Ralph and two grandsons, Cameron and Chuck. Mom will be lovingly remembered by her seven children, Pat, Laurie, Ward, Lynne, Craig, Dean, Rae and their spouses, her sister Betty, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Her wish was to be a teacher and she was to all her family. Everyday she had something new and fun to do.

She always kept herself and her sisters very busy. She was a strong and beautiful girl who will be missed dearly and will remain in the hearts of those who knew her forever. Katti leaves behind her family that loved her dearly Her mom Annabelle and Dad Joseph, her sisters Teaira and Keyona, grandma Mary Behile and grandpa Eddie Sassie, aunties Priscilla (Robert) and Sheila and Uncle Jay, cousins Taylor, Darrian, Danielle, Wyatt, and Connor, grandma Mavis Mearow and grandpa Richard Mearow, aunties Eunice, Josie and Tracey, and uncles Norman (Dorothy) and John (Stella) and numerous cousins. He leaves to cherish his memory two children: Alan (Arlene) Rasmussen and Lynn Nelson (Tom Seitz); two grandchildren: Christine (Scott Rumbold) and Matthew (Kelly) Nelson; five greatgrandchildren: Carter and Barrett Rumbold, Jair, Owen, and Holly Nelson; sisters-in-law: Betty Bateman and Laurene (Fred) Summach and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Merna; his parents, William and Rachel Rasmussen; three brothers: William, Gordon and Eric and one sister Mary. Douglas was born on January 16, 1923 in Amulet, SK.

He attended school in Regina, SK. He enlisted in the RCAF and served overseas. He married Merna on January 26, 1946 in Regina, SK. He worked for the Regina Leader Post and then for Imperial Oil Limited until his retirement. He enjoyed curling, golf, walking and trips to Hawaii during the winter.

He will be forever missed and lovingly by his remembered years, Victoria; three children, Elaine (Paul) Politylo of Edmonton, Larry ROOME, Frederick A. 1919-2007 Fred Roome passed away peacefully at his daughter's home in Vancouver on August 28 at the age of 88 years and was cremated September 5.

His wife, Jean Roome in April 28, 2001, predeceased him. He is survived by two daughters and their partners, Marilee Roome and Richard Haslinger (Vancouver) Patricia Roome and Leonard Sandrin (Calgary); two grandchildren Alessandro F. RoomeSandrin and Ryan Sandrin; two nieces, their partners and families, Marion and Gary Hollingshead (Summerland, BC.) Joyce and Phil Redford (Vancouver). Family and friends will miss him. Fred was born in Edmonton on August 14,1919 to William and Maud Roome.

His parents died when he was young and Fred lived with his brother Russell, his wife Winifred and their daughters Joyce and Marion. He attended school in Edmonton, later worked for Safeway and moved to Stettler, Alberta in 1940. Here he met and married Jean McCurlie in 1942. After many happy years in Stettler, they relocated their family to Edmonton in 1954 into the community of North Glenora. Fred accepted a position with Woodward's and later moved to the new Woodward's store at Westmount Shopping Centre where he worked in various managerial positions until retirement in 1985.

Fred and Jean attended Fellowship Baptist Church. Over the years Fred sang in the choir, served as deacon, and Sunday school superintendent and teacher. Recently he lived at Canterbury Court but spent his last months in Vancouver. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service in his honour Sunday September 23 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel at Canterbury Court, 8403-142 Street.

A reception will follow. Donations may be made in Fred's memory to Fellowship Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 14323 107A Avenue NW, Edmonton, Alberta T5N-1 G2. -292695 SAMSON, Mildred Joyce (Mohs) 1928-2007 On September 13th Mildred Samson passed away peacefully. Mildred is survived by sister Margaret Holland, brothers Lyle and Vern, nieces and nephews and the Samson family. She will also be missed by her many friends and neighbors.

Mildred was predeceased by her parents, sisters Barbara, Edith and Evelyn, brother John, and husband Jim. Mildred requested that no service be held. Cremation has taken place and her and Jim's ashes will be scattered together at a later date. SURTIDA, Maria Estrella V. "Terry" Mrs. Maria Estrella Vibar Surtida, died peacefully at the Touchmark health services neighbourhood, with her family by her side, at 80 years of age. She will be missed by her husband of 54 years, Jose; children: Tony, Al, Maryanne, Arnie, Joel and Maridel; 17 grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
