(Josh) Rose, assistant general secretary of the Metropolitan YMCA, will retire tomorrow, but he ex- peels to be as busy as ever in community affairs. Since 1965 he has been executive of both the Northwest and Central branches in Oakland as well as assistant general secretary of Metropolitan, the parent organization for- all YMCA's in Alameda County, except Berkeley and Albany.

Rose came to Oakland in 1939 to be executive of the Northwest Branch at 3265 Market after serving with the in Pittsburgh, and Mohtclair, N. Hertecame the first Negro to serve on a city board and the city council. He $as a member of the Oakland Rec-reajioff from 1947 to 1964 and was chairman in 1961 and 1962.
