Frank's Place has often been described as "magical," something Harper believes arises from an "anything can happen" quality. "You don't know what to expect," he says. Those ambiguities extend to Harper's interpretation of Bubba. "He has one foot in tradition and ambition, and another foot in getting away from this tradition and ambition. And when two things pull in opposite directions, they stay stationary.

So he's at the Chez, having a Bloody Mary." Harper himself is no stranger to that in-between feeling. A graduate with honors in English literature from Rutgers University, he had acted in productions throughout college. Following his appearance in a production that was presented at the Kennedy Center as part of the American college Theater Festival, he was faced with a choice. "I had a fellowship to go to graduate school at the University of California. At the same time, I was offered a job as an apprentice actor for an equity company.

One way would have been the life that I always thought I would have. The other way was a bigger risk. It was a leap of faith when I went into acting." 7:00 p.m. Larry King Live 9:00 p.m. Moneytins 9:30 p.m.
