Thomas- 1 save to By" LOUISE WRIGHT The two years of uncertainty about the future home of Rtfc i Woman's Q'ub have ended happily. As of Jan. 1 or so, the ladies will have a brand new clubhouse. It's to be located at 6065 Chabot Road, Oakland, four blocks north of their current Keith Avenue clubhouse, demolition of which will start any day. DESIGNED by Architect Lawrence Ayer of Berkeley, the new clubhouse will be contemporary in style with natural redwood finish.

Specifications call for a spacious meeting room two stories in height, a stage, entrance foyer, section room, kitchen with large pantry and storage areas, and a caretaker's apartment. There will be off street parking and a fully landscaped approach, including two Japanese maples, a large tulip tree, orange tree, fountain and the transplanted Old English lamp that now illuminates the club gardens on Keith Avenue. The new structure will occupy a 70 by 165-foot lot, and will be built by Harold Reid of Oakland. It will not be open for public rentals, club officials have decided. Until completion date, the meeting place will be the new Oakland Masonic Temple on Broadway at 39th Street.

FOR THE past two years or more, the 56-yearld Rockridge Woman's Club has been deluged with problems, all pertaining to housing and displacement. First, members were notified that their beautiful English clubhouse on Keith, which opened 41 years ago, would have to go. The bite was from Grove-Shafter Freeway. Then, after they'd acquired four large lots in the nearby Sorenson estate for an alternate site, they were meted a similar blow from the Bay Area Rapid Transit District. After considerable shopping around looking for new sites, checking out property titles and juggling bank accounts, the membership voted last fall to forget the whole thing, and instead to hold future meetings at the Masonic Temple.

THIS SPRING they changed The BrandforcU Will Tour Orient When Dr. Mrs. H. Frank Brandford of Walnut Creek leave the Fourth of July for a 21-day tour of Japan, they'll find at least one familiar face on their arrival abroad. They will be met by Miss Hideko Tani, who spent a year in the Brandford home in 1961 as an American Field Service exchange student.
