She is survived by! her loving parents, Randall and Janet; brother, Jordan; maternal grandparents, Marie Zukiwsky and (Marie) Zukiwsky; paternal grandparents, Donald and Lorraine Adams; as well as many other relatives and friends. Fedun's Funeral Chapel Vegreville (403) 632-3822. -094242 FRERE, John Ernest John Ernest Frere passed away peacefully with many family members present at St. Mary's Health Care Centre in Trochu, Alberta on Sunday, April 26, 1998 at the age of 88. John Frere was born in Castor, Alberta on January 31, 1910, the eldest son of Ernest and Martha Frere.

He moved to Trochu with his parents that winter. In 1928, John was one of the first farmers in the Trochu area to harvest his crop with the help of a combine. He proudly continued to operate combines for the next 69 years. During his life, John trucked for construction on the Alaska Highway and with excellent business skills, built a successful automobile and implement dealership as well as a profitable family farm and ranching operation. He was an avid curler, community builder and held memberships in the B.P.O.E., Knights of Columbus and Lions Club.

John will be remembered lovingly by those many people whose hearts he touched with his many stories of days gone by, his sharp mind and his good natured wit and sense of humor; he will be greatly missed. John is survived by Anna (Knievel), his loving wife of 62 years; their six children; Louis (Lorene) Frere and children, (Laura) Frere, Tom (Holly) Frere, John (Dorian) Frere, Andrew (Barb) Free, Simone Free and Lewis Free; Raymond (Maureen) Frere and children, Jo-Anne (Troy) Wilson, Terry (Denyse) Frere; George (Kay) Frere; Genevieve (Ken) Hoppins and children, Karen (Brian) Young, Kevin (Elizabeth) Hoppins, Ray (Sandi) Hoppins, Richard (Melanie) Hoppins; Marc (Fay) Frere and children, Darrin Frere, Deanne Free; Rose-Marie (Roger) Jackson and children Brent (Charmaine) Jackson, George Jackson, Kevin Jackson, Jocelyn Jackson; ten great-grandchildren (who fondly call "Super four brothers and three sisters.
