Harold Haggland outlined the Crown's approach on the opening day of the trial of Ryan Jason Love. Love, 22, is charged with the second-degree murder of Lucie Turmel. 1. She was 23 when she was killed.

Her body was found on a street in the Rocky Mountain resort town of Banff May 17, 1990. She had been stabbed at least 17 times. Turmel was originally from Levis, Que. Love, of Duncan B.C., is a former employee of the landmark Banff Springs Hotel. He was arrested near his parent's Vancouver Island home more than two years after the stabbing.

The arrest followed an extensive manhunt that saw RCMP chase hundreds of leads and interview thousands of people in Canada, the U.S. and Europe. In Court of Queen's Bench Monday, Haggland told Justice Robert Cairns that forensic experts from across Canada and the U.S. will I be called. "They will indicate Miss Turmel fought to defend herself," said Haggland.

An expert in DNA analysis genetic testing "will indicate to the court the source of the blood in the cab is that of the he said. Turmel's parents made the journey from Quebec to be in the courtroom. "We have come here to be with Lucie," Denise Turmel said outside court. "In our minds, Lucie is still living," said her father, Jean, a doctor. "For the people, she's dead.

But for us, she's our daughter and we (think) about her, not in the past, but always in the present. -042329 CADRIN, Elizabeth Joy (nee Frank) Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free I'm following the path God laid for me. took His hand when I heard Him call I turned my back and left it all. could not stay another day To laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way. I found that peace at the close of the day.

If my parting has left a void Then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss. As yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow. wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.

My life's been full, I savored much. Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief. Don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your heart and share with me.
