Hundreds of youth from across the state participated in a Sci-Tech Fair Thursday, as well as a variety of projects ranging from working at the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank to constructing stuffed toys for the Children's Center at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. "This gathering of youth from across the state is one of the largest, if not the largest, 4 events in the nation." said Dr. Steve Mullen, who is the Extension Sen ice's div iskm leader for 4-H Youth Development.

Mullen said the annual Short Course creates "special memories" for the young people who participate. "We've educated them about possible careers, about life and about the value of higher education." Mullen said. "We've taught life skills and provided a living laboratory where delegates were introduced to new ideas, exposed to new learning opportunities and had numerous opportunities to practice their social skills."
