The club met Monday to make plans and name committees for this annual event, Mrs. Gahn reported. Mrs. Mike Fontenot has been named chairman and final plans for the masquerade party will be announced by this week end, it was reported.

All proceeds from the banquet will go to the Jaycee community development fund. Two members from the Rayne Jaycee chapter were guests at the meeting and presented the "galloping gavel" to the Ma mou Jaycees. The Mamou Jay- cee's must visit a Jaycee chap ter out of their district and present the "galloping gavel." The purpose of thisgimmic. the Rayne Jaycees explained, is to promote visitation amongst Jaycee chapters. Representing Rayne were Jaycees Marcus Bordelon and Wayne White.

Elvin C. Fontenot, Jaycee treasurer, reported that the club is now in good financial shape with $100 in the build ing fund, $100 in the Scholar ship fund; and $400 in the gen eral operating fund. Members voted to held a soe- I cial election at the next reg ular meeting to name a new external vice-president to replace Russell Ardoin. Other discussions centered on the November 11 Veterans Day float; the Christmas Toy project; Hospital Lending Library, and a Christmas social. Elvin Reed was named chairman of the Bosses Night program which the Jaycees will sponsor in February in conjunction with the National Jaycee Week observance.

i Retreat Dates Set For Mamou Catholic Men The date for the annual St. Ann Catholic Church Layman's Retreat at Grand Coteau was announced this week by Emery Deshotels, retreat chairman for the local Knights of Columbus Council, sponsor of the retreat movement at Mamou. Mamou retreat captains met Sunday with retreat captains of the Lafayette Diocese in Grand Coteau to plan activities and schedule dates for the various retreat groups of the diocese. Attending the Grand Coteau diocese meet were Deshotels, O.H. Miller, W.J.

Parent, and Elvin Lallaye. Dr. W.J. Brulet of Lake Charles was the main speaker at the Grand Coteau meeting, Deshotels reported. Dr.

Brulet spoke on the retreat movement and its effect upon a parish and community. The retreat date for the Mamou K.C. St. Ann Troops Sponsor First Harvest Ball The first annual Harvest Ball, sponsored by the Mamou Junior Catholic Daughter of America Court of St. Ann, will be held on Saturday night at the Amer ican Legion Home. All teenagers of the Mamou area are invited to attend the event.

Dancing will be from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. Admission will be $1.00 per person. Music will be furnished by the Electras. The three Junior C.D.A. Troops which comprise the Mamou Court are in charge of arrangements, Mrs.

Ferna Lou Guillory reported. The St. Ann Troop, headed by Mrs. Le-ola Broussard is in charge of decorations and an elaborate theme is being used for the dance. The St.

Theresa Troop, headed by Mrs. Dora Fontenot, is in charge of food and refreshments which will be sold at the Legion home. The St. Mary Magdelene Troop, headed by Mrs. Guillory, counselor, is in charge of the entertainment.

The dance will be well chaperoned by mothers of Junior members, Mrs. Guillory stated.
