-TV cr- The low water conditions noted at Henderson several weeks ago reminded many fishermen of more frequent incidents of low water before the Henderson Control Structure was completed during the winter of 1969-70. This picture, taken In October 1969 at what was then Robin's Landing, shows how the area along the levee had dried up, with the water level falling almost 15 feet below conditions that had existed during June of that year. The low water was caused by a combination of very low river stages and a lack of rainfall. The Henderson Control Structure is now closed when the Atchafalaya River drops, preventing water in Henderson Lake from falling below seven feet. ple were, instead of being proud that one of our parish teams would get that far. Above anything else that happened Friday night was what the adults did in the pressbox. Messing up the music for the Cecilia cheerleaders' routine was unexcusable. The equipment worked fine before and after their routine. It had been talked about at school that this was supposed to happen.

However, we thought surely the "adults would have more respect for our young adults than to do something so childish. They should be reprimanded and never be allowed in the pressbox again. A Bulldog fan. Katrina Collette occurred if they had had enough sense to send someone to the pressbox to properly handle the equipment and introduce their squad. Thank God the Breaux Bridge fans had the dignity and class not to boo when this occurred: no telling what the outcome might have been.

I hope that the principal of Cecilia High School has the good sense to take disciplinary action against the four cheerleaders whose sportsmanship, spirit, morals and class were definitely lacking. In closing. I would like to congratulate both teams on a game well played, and Cecilia on their win. Sincerely, A very dedicated BB fan (Name withheld by request) First block party was a big success Dear Editor: We had our first annual Block Party on Saturday, Oct. 15 on Theater Street between Honore and Berard.

The Committed Community Club sponsored this event to raise funds to take students on a field trip to Angola State Prison. We want to send our warmest thanks to the community and everyone who made this event a big success. Sincerely, Ladia Flowers, President Danielle Fontenette, Secretary St. Martinville 10 YEARS AGO October 17, 1984 As expected, the Breaux Bridge City Council adopted an ordinance extending the terms of elected municipal officials by 18 months, postponing the city elections until the fall of 1986. Local attorney Chester Cedars was named by the Breaux Bridge City Council as prosecuting attorney for the Ward 4 City Court.

Despite a full house of mostly local parents protesting the 4 a.m. curfew extension in St. Martinville. the city council voted by a 3-2 margin to keep the extension in place. Jeffery Youngblood and Lori Trahan, members of a class for gifted students at St.

Martinville Elementary, had poems published in two national children's magazines. Darlene Theriot was elected president of the St. Martinville Art Club. I do want to i acknowledge Chip's goodness in this letter. My wife and our Jfour children are blessed to I rent from him. I also assume that the adage applies here "Like mother, like son." It has been a great rivalry, known throughout the state. I even participated in the fun during my high school years and have memorable stories to tell my children and grandchildren. The story that I would not pass through the genertlons would be the one that occurred last Friday, Oct. 14 when some Cecilia fans and four of their cheerleaders showed their true colors.
