Alex Fyfe. a coach with the Edmonton Speedskating Association also praises the Sport Expo.

"It orked well for us last year," he says. "We went into it to give our club a higher exposure, but we got some new members as a result." He says this year the club will have a slide display as well as a "Wall Sit "championship. "We had the wall sit last year and it proved very popular ith the kids." Wall Sit involves sitting with your back to the wall with no chair and your legs bent 90 degrees. The inner of the competition is the last one still sitting after everyone else has fallen down. Admission to the Sport Expo is $2 per person.

Children under 12 are admitted free. Sport Expo is open Sept. 1 8 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sept.

Edmonton and Sherwood Park, this ill be the third time the association has had a booth at the Sport Expo. "We provide a demonstration, which gives the kids an outlet to perform and we hand out information," she says. "It's generated a few new members for us over the years, but it's mostly a public relations thing for us." A new feature at this year's Sport Expo ill be demonstrations of inline skating put on by Edmonton Parks Recreation and the Edmonton Nordic Ski Club. The demonstration will include three races of 10, six and four kilometres and well as an opportunity for Edmonton's third annual Sport Expo will be staged at Kinsmen Sports Centre September 1 8 and 19. "We had more than 5,000 people at the event last year and we're hoping to double that number," says organizer Marlene Sherback.

The event is one of the major fundraisers for Sport Central, an equipment depot used to help underprivileged children. During the Sport Expo visitors have tlie chance to view a large number of sports programs available throughout Edmonton and to participate in other sports. In addition, there is a used equipment sale here people can purchase equipment for almost any sport. "We held the first two Sport Expos at the Sportex building, but this year moved to Kinsmen because it is a larger facility with better parking." says Sherback.
