CLOVERDALE REVEILLE, THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 10, 1953 PAGE THREE WOMAN EDUCATOR TO SPEAK AT PTA CONGRESS HERE Among the speakers at the meeting of the 14th District California Congress of Parents and Teachers in Cloverdale on Sept. 17 will be Dr. Bernice Baxter, director of education in human relations of the Oakland City Unified School District. The meeting will be held from 10 a. m.

to 3 p. m. in the Grange Hall, with Mrs. William Patching of San Rafael presiding. RITES HELD FOR Ml M.

KOHLER Funeral services were held in the Chapel of the Chimes, Oakland, on Aug. 28 for Mrs. Margaret Kohler of Cloverdale. Mrs. Kohler died at the age of 82 on Aug.

2G after a long illness. Her only survivor is her daughter, Miss Margaret Kohler. Born in Redwood Valley, Contra Costa, Mrs. Kohler moved to Cloverdale with her daughter in 1919. They have resided near Cloverdale ever since.

GARDEN MOTEL IS SOLD TO COUPLE FROM SEBASTOPOL Garden Motel has been sold by Mr. and Mrs. George Slianahan to Mr. and Mrs. Bion Elliott and the Shanahans have purchased the Bion's home near Sebastopol.

The Elliotts took over operation of the motel on August 31. They will continue furnishing weather reports to the Reveille as recorded 'for the U. S. Government at the motel. The home the Shanahans have purchased is located on two acres of ground on South Craven-stein Road a mile and a half south of Sebastopol.

J-r. and Mrs. Elliott have operated motels in Arizona and a hotel at Roreville. They have two children, a son, Master Sergeant Leift'ilon Elliott at Chanute Field, 111., and a daughter. Mrs.

Raymond SP To Spend Nearly Four Millions On Traffic Control On Route Southern will spend to further speed train movements on its Shasta Route to the Northwest, with anticipated benefit to operations all over the system, I). J. Russell, president, has announced. The company has authorized this exnenditure for installation of 95 miles of centralized traffic control (CTC) between Crescent Lake and Eugene, Russell said. Construction will begin in early October.

CTC is a means of dispatching trains by remote eleitrical control, it was explained. Many more trains can be handled and their running times substantially reduced by use of the facility. The expedited train movements Fire Mountain Pageant At Guerneville Sept. 12 Guerneville will hold its annual spectacular Pageant of Fire Mountain at Johnson's Beach Saturday night, Sept. 12.

The pageant dramatizes an Indian legend and it is staged with the moonlit river as the setting and the dark wooded slopes as a backdrop. One of the outstanding sights of the event is the regatta of canoes illuminated with torches. Another impressive display is in the climax of the pageant when flames spring from the mountain side. The pageant is sponsored by the Resort Owners' Association of Guerneville. Pageant chairman is Mrs.

Marie DeSmit; pageant director, Mrs. Dorothy Gugich. Water is transported as far as 500 miles by the Central Valley Reclamation project. I The theme of the meeting will be "Opportunity lor World Understanding," and Dr. Baxter will speak on "World Understanding Begins at Home," Mrs.

Lowell Duesler, president of the Cloverdale will be hostess to the meeting. TOP ENTERTAINERS TO BE FEATURED AT APPLE SHOW Mendocino County Fair and Apple show, with a theme of "Agriculture," opens its gates Sept. 25 for a throe-day run.
