Medical degree to Linda Maach Linda L. Maach, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mason Maach of Humboldt, received her degree as doctor of medicine from the University of Iowa in commencement exercises held in Iowa City May 16 and 17. Ms.

Maach is a 1968 graduate of Humboldt High School. She will begin a 3-year internship-residency program in internal medicine at Montefiore Hospital and Medical Center in the Bronx, N. June 28. Mrs. Kurt Brinkrrian, Gilmore City, is in Pocahontas Community Hospital. Ms. Foster to Newton Diane Foster, daughter of Mr. and Ms.

Elmer Foster of Humboldt, has accepted employment with King's Department Store, Newton, according to the placement office at Iowa Central Community College, Fort Dodge. Ms. Foster completed the Retail Marketing program offered by ICCC. D. Lanning graduates Douglas T.

Lanning, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eldon "Flick" Lanning of Clare, was among 300 students graduating from Hawkeye Institute of Technology in Waterloo June 13. Lanning, a graduate of Gilmore City-Bradgate High School, will have a degree in animal science. Guest speaker for the evening was T.

J. Heronimus, vice president of the State Board of Public Instruction. Hold 69th reunion Friends and Neighbors lead funding The Livermore Friends and Neighbors Club concluded a fund-raising project for the purpose of paying off indebtedness on their new building. Marie Wilson and Florence Rutz were cochairmen of this event. Included in the project were a solid walnut Grandfather Clock, handcrafted and donated by Erpelding's Walnut Center of Livermore; a gold Johnson Rain Lamp donated by White Furniture pf Fort Dodge; a $50 Savings Bond and a $25 Savings Bond.

The bonds were donated by members. Winners in the drawing held at the Senior Citizen Center Sunday, June 15, at noon before approximately 35 people were the grandfather clock: Bob Wilson, Livermore; Rain Lamp: Mary Lou Lane, Humboldt: $50 Bond: Anna Pfeffer, Livermore; $25 Bond: Lucile Gronbach, Livermore. The drawing was conducted by Club President lola Foley and Viola Boosalis with names being drawn by Billy Nickel of Mason City, grandson of Mrs. Inez Logue. Amelia Johnson was in charge of the ticket stubs and box from which they were drawn.

The club is grateful to those many people who contributed to the success of this project and an open invitation is extended to visit their new center. Regular Republican, Wednesday, June 18 9 meetings are held on the first Island they visited in the and third Wednesday of each month and a weekly Wednesday Family Fun Night is held starting at 8 p.m. Gus and Viola Boosalis and Carmen Wagner are ring-masters. Tea Tasting Party for Hypoglycemics Hope for Hypoglycemics will meet Wednesday, June 25, 8 p.m. in Humboldt Trust Community Room.

This meeting will present information on Hypogry- cemia and it will be an Anniversary Tea Tasting Party. Anyone interested is invited to come. Clarence Smiths return from eastern trip Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Smith have returned home from a vacation of weeks of visiting and sightseeing in eastern states.

In Washington D.C. they visited their son, HM1 Kent T. Smith and family. He is teaching Laboratory Technology in Bethesda Hospital there. He met his wife when she was a nurse in the WAVES and he was in a naval training station near Chicago.

Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Lemmers, live in Long Island N.Y. When Mr. and Mrs.

Clarence Smith traveled to New York City and Long Lemmer's home. The Kent Smiths will leave Washington, D.C., June 25 for San Juan, Puerto Rico, where he has a three year assignment to teach at the Naval Hospital. Some of the interesting places and things Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Smith saw were the Capitol, White House, other U.S.

Government buildings, Embassy Road, where the foreign embassy buildings are, and Arlington Cenetery where they saw changing of the guards at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and viewed the Kennedy graves. In New York and Long Island they saw the Statue of Liberty and many more interesting sights. Bode Mr. and Mrs. Gary Reeves Rock Island, 111., moved to Bode this week.

Reeves is the new instrumental music teacher in Twin Rivers. Mrs. Reeves will teach in St. Joe school. Friendship Club met Wednesday afternoon in the community building with a large crowd.

Mrs. Nell Wiekey and Mrs. Faith Ross were hostesses. Mr. and Mrs.

LeRoy Enger entertained a large group of friends and relatives for their son, Jeff, on Baccalaureate and graduation nights. Jeff Enger and Art Hampe are on a 10 day coeducation canoe trip. They left for Ames June 7 and the Christo-canoe group started out from Hope Lutheran Church in Ames. One of the stops is Ely, Minn. The 69th Crain family reunion was held June 15 at Gotch Park near Humboldt.

The eldest member, John T. Crain, was present, accompanied by his wife Lula and daughter Veda (Mrs. Ardell Fevold.) The youngest member, Pamela, was born that morning. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
