8 Oneonta Star March 8, 1969 Variety marks weekend TV shows Saturday Golf Classic. Gene Littler and Roberto i are matched against the team of Lee Elder and Bruce Crampton, in a first-round contest at the Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio. (Color) 4 pm (12) Wide World of Sports. Danger and speed are the key words in the sporting events on view as highlights of the llth annual Daytona "500" Stock Car race and the World Two-Man Bobsled Championships from a Placid, New York take over the 90 minute show. (Color) 5 pm (9-13-34) Jackie Gleason.

If the team of Gleason and Berle intrigues you, they're back here tonight, dominating the opening and closing portions of the hour. (Color) 7:30 pm (5-10-12) My Three Sons. Apparently the Federson operation is on a Spanish language binge, judging from recent episodes on "Family Affair" and tonight's story. Young Ernie Douglas has a Bolivian pen pal, and while practicing his Spanish invites the girl to dinner. She and her duenna accept, whereupon Ernie and Uncle Charlie proceed to Insult the ladies in their mangled Spanish.

Though the dinner invitation seems a bit improbable, the confrontation is truly awkward and evokes sympathy. (Color) 8:30 pm (5-10-12) The Ghost and Mrs. Muir. "The Medicine Ball." Pleasant episode about our meddling Captain that provides a brief and unexpected change of scene. Carolyn Muir, ou of sorts, is actually ill and when a youthful doctor i some medicine, the disdainful Captain takes things in his own hands and prepares an exotic brew.

(Color) 8:30 pm (2-3-fr40) Saturday Night at the Movies. "The Birds." (1962) (Repeat). A frightening suspense drama by master shocker Alfred Hitchcock. Seemingly without any rhyme or reason, flocks of birds start attacking the population of a community and terror sets in. Jhere are many memorable sequences the squeamish may find hard to take.

(Color) 9 pm (2-3-6-40) Hollywood Palace. Four years ago, Diana Ross and The Supremes, made their debut at the Palace and tonight, they host the show, singing most of their best-selling numbers. Even so, the Supremes play second fiddle to wonderful Waters, as she sings "Dinah" Diana Ross, and describes how she introduced it at the Plantation Club back in 1924, and solos to "Suppertime" from her 1933 appearance in Broadway's "As Thousands Cheer." Soupy Sales bounces around, Stevie Wonder and the Saddri dancers, who slide from ballet to comedy routines, complete the roster of guests. (Color) 9:30 pm (9-13-34) Mannk. "N.Y.P.D.'s" Robert Hooks guests stars playing a drug thief who's secretary Peggy's boy friend and causes a big split between Peggy and her boss.

Gail Fisher (Peggy) has more to do than pour coffee in this entry and she's effective in the traumatic scenes, while Robert Hooks plays the villain with style. (Color) 10 pm (5-1012) Sunday Camera Three. "A Panorama of Magic." Part I. If magic tricks happen to be your cup of tea, here's a chance to hear a bit of its 5,000 year old history by a pastmaster of the art, Milbourne Christopher, and see some famous magic feats performed. "The Wish." Good episode. Series star Michael Landon wrote and directed this semtimental story.

Though the plot is a rewrite of the familiar western tale about the fanner seeking revenge on the town bullies who've turned on his family, Landon has revitalized the drama by making it a story about a black family. Ossie Davis, who plays the lead, should be given an award for appearing in so many dramas and making each character he plays exciting.
