"The market's advance ran out af steam late Wednesday," one analyst commented. But tic said that technically Hie market was ripe for a setback, anyway. Another analyst said Ihe list is getting a long needed rest. But he didn't think this lype of market action would last long because ot a generally constructive news background. Shortly before noon, the Dow Jones industrial average was off about points at 837.62.

Declines were leading advances by 300 issues. Prices also declined in brisk trading on the American Stock Echange. Oxf tile 927 issues on the tape, 432 pointed lower while 281 advanced. Among the most aclive Amex issues were Damon Corp. about unchanged on over 150,000 shares, Nylronics steady cn shares, and Leaseo Data warrants fractionally lower on a volume of around 15,009.

Ryder System was an early feature on Ihe Bis Board. Tt traded a block or 280,600 shares at J3 off 'A in a cross transaction. Other heavily traded issues were Jersey Standard down 1h, Gillette Co. off Vi, Telex Corp. ft lower, Gulf Oil down It, Texaco lower, and Occidental off Vt.
