By ED STRUZIK Journal Staff Writer Health concerns among people living near sour gas plants are becoming more widespread, says the author of a study into Twin Butte-Pincher Creek health problems. Sociologist Earle Snider, who found a statistical link between Twin Butte health problems and gas plants in bis government-funded study, says he's received at least 15 health complaints from other gas plant communities. "There's definitely something going on out there," Snider told an Environment Council of Alberta (ECA) committee Monday. "The calls that I get from around the province are almost identical to those that the Twin Butte people have complained about for years." The illnesses include respiratory problems such as breathing difficulties, sore throats and coughing fits. Following Snider's presentation Monday, the ECA committee recommended that Environment Minister Fred Bradley start cracking down on sour gas plant polluters.

Alberta's private schools will be the subject of an intense government study over the next year. Education Minister Dave King said today the purpose is to examine fully the development and organizations of private schools as a step toward future education planning. THORVARDS0N, Johanna S. On June 25, 1983, Mrs. Johanna S. Thorvardson of Athabas, ca. Alberta, passed away in the University of Alberta Hospital, Edmonton.

Our Aunty Jo is survived by loving nieces and nephews in Alberta, Manitoba and B.C. and many long time friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Ingi in 1978. A memorial service will be held on Thursday. June 30, at 2:00 m.
