It is about dbath. More specifically, il is about dying. The name of this teleplay is "Sunshine." Based on a true story, it is two-and-a-half- hour presentation about a 20 year-old woman who dies of cancer but leaves a rare legacy to her daughter and husband: tape recordings of her thoughts and feelings of love.

It is extraordinarily inspiring to contemplate the wondrous courage of the young woman from whose life tonight's story was taken. Show business is. after all, game-playing of a sort, and the real larger-than- life experiences are to be found life itself. There is no film Iherism that comes close to the drama that Is presented tonight. At least, however, the young woman whose story inspires us in "Sunshine" is portrayed Witlv unspeakable beauty by an actress named Christina Raines, who has given of herself fully.

Then the illness closed in on them. The woman.is given choice of having a diseased leg amputated, or undergoing treatments. She refuses the amputation. as constant medication has negative effects on her and causes her behavior to be erratic with her child and husband, she decides to give up the medication rather than let it spoil her relationships with her loved ones--and their memories of here. She wants to have her mind clear and her love at its strongness when she puts herself into the recordings.

Her. husband at first cannot understand her attitude, think- ing she Is committing suicide by not fighting the illness. Eventually, however, he sees her act is one of affirmation--of emphasizing the. quality of one's life. The superb scripVis-by Carol Sovieski, and the.
