Youngs (Virgie) Foreman of the Indian Bayou community, who has just received the well-merited honor of being named President-Elect of the Louisiana Extension Homemakers Council for 1986, a state-wide recognition of her splendid leadership and contributions, primarily as a member of the Tri-Parish Indian Squaws, Indian Bayou Home Ec Club and the Vermilion Parish Homemakers Council. Her selection as President-Elect means that she will automatically assume the State Presidency of the Louisiana Council for 1987-88, with much advancement ahead under her dedicated Homemaker services. A look to the past brings the background upon which this State honor for Mrs. Foreman is based. As Virgie Broussard she graduated from Abbeville High School In 1938.

She was married to Youngs Foreman of Indian Bayou 43 years ago, the couple observing a very special agriculture-oriented family, farming soybeans and rice, with crawfish produced and angus cattle a large part of the family's interests. They are the parents of three daughters, (Mrs. Larry) Gwen Conv eaux, (Mrs. McRay) Patricia Guidry, and (Mrs. Larry) Peggy Sue Gisclair.

Those attending will see the First Buggy Festival youth queen crowned, arid the Senior Citizen Queen and King crowned and will attend the Ball. Foreman has been a 4-H leader for over 35 years in the community and parish. Her girls were all 4-H winners, key leader, scholarship, rice cookery, cherry pie baking and yeast bread demonstration girls. All attended short course every year and Peggy was a National Achievement Winner. She has also been an honorary Future Homemaker of America Organization Mother since girls were in active participation of organization.
