TAB 52 TAB Laughs, spills galore as raftsmen set sail i i Yin rm i I I I If I vn 'Xf day. But it shouldn't chill, their enthusiasm. Another water event taking place during Klondike Days is the 18th annual Canoe Regatta from Terwilligar Park to Run-die Park on Saturday, July 31. It is an amateur canoe race that includes seven family classes as well as a racing canoe class. Registration for the canoe regatta is at 2 p.m.

with the first set leaving at 3 p.m. A dinner and awards ceremony will follow at 6 p.m. A flotilla quite unlike anything known in naval circles will take to the North Saskatchewan River on Sunday, July 25. It's the 23rd Annual World Championship Sourdough Raft Race, well-elstablished as one of the most popular of all Klondike Days activities. This year there are 124 comedy rafts as well as 15 trim, sleek racing rafts.

In fact, the Klondike Days Association had to turn down many more comedy entries as its quota was more than filled. The raft race starts at Terwilligar Park at noon and ends sometime around as that is the time at whicht awards will be presented at the Edmonton Ski Club. Honorary Admiral of the Sourdough Fleet this year is Ross McBain, a past president of Edmonton Northlands. The rafts will be inspected at 8 a.m., and there will then be a breakfast for contestants, sponsored by CHQT and CFCW radio stations and the Alberta Egg and Fowl Marketing Board. Then at noon the fun begins.

There will be stop-offs at Whitemud, Laurier and Emily Murphy parks where each contestant will wade ashore and obtain a garter from one of the Garter Girls posted at those locations. Those are also good vantage points from which to view the race. The Great Divide waterfall on the High Level Bridge will be turned on for the event, presumably to cool down the feverish contestants if it proves to be a warm in is Sometimes, instead of just the garter, they'll take the whole girl I presents. xm EDMONTON'S WE'VE GOT A GOOD TIME WAITING FOR YOU!
