Towne, Seccombe WILL STRENGTHEN TEAM'S WEAK SPOTS Two or Three Changes Are i Announced on Star Line-Up, Weak spots In the line-up ot the. Ur-bita Stars will be strengthened before the big game next Sunday with the Sherman Indians, of Los Angeles, at Urblta Tark. It was announced yesterday that probably a new second sncker would be obtained, while they are also thinking of securing mother backstop. Sunday's drubbing at the hands of the Hamburgers rather rankles In the crops of some- of the plnyers, particularly thJse who played a consistent game throughout, against the ragged work of the others. The boy who made the really Kod showing of the day.

Pace, will probably become a permanent tenant of first management Is just now casting-about for r6meone to hold down the keystone station. Cowley has left the city and Pace Is needed worse at first than at second. Smith, the Indian backstop from Riverside, may again play with the locals. Lindner's work Sunday was far below the standard lie has been setting, and he must Improve to hold his place. The balance of the Infield will remain as it Is, with Dorsch on short and Smith at third.

The boys will practice Friday again, getting In trim for the Sunday contest, which is promised to be a lively affair. Sunday's crowd was considerably "peeved" at the faot that 'the Stara had to drop one, thus spoiling their record of an unbroken chain of victories. That's nil right. If the boys won every game, it would Foon become monotonous and the sessions would lack Interest, con-, frequently the attendance fall. Maybe its just as well the "Hamburger lunch" was lost FOB TBACK STENTS.

The I Street Sluggers proved their claim to the title at the street grounds yesterday afternoon, when they knocked in 22 runs to the goose-egg row for the Central school tewm. Reno, the shortstop, proved the batting hero, with two home runs, a double, triple and Bln-gle to his credit. Telles and Forbes also contributed four-sackers. I Tony Telles pitched a 'nice, quiet lltr tie game. Most of the time It was the one-two-three route1 for the Centrals.

Hanson and Warren umpired. The lineup: I Street Sluggers Lester Preston, Albert Telles. Smile Telles, Tony Telles, Roland Reno, Lloyd Forbes, Walt Wyler, Willie Mizell, Hartley Davidson, cf. Central Lads Hlsh, Clyde Berdoo, Custer, Clifton Ferdoo, Edwards, Praster, Boyd, Jenkins and Taylor, Heap, Four to Two The street forces clashed with the Fourth street team at the high school grounds. The former won by a score 'of 4 to 2, in a well played cojit8t.

If you had wanted to, witness Sunday's ball game between the Hamburgers and ITrbita Stars, why In the 'nam of Mike didn't you sit In the" grandstand with ordinary folks, Instead of on the local bench. Infusing your spirit Into the sinews of our home hopes and force them to meet with their first de'reat'of the season? t-; Harry's spirit sure was mighty; It stalked abroad and turned what should have been easy outs Into something that didn't look nice on the scoreboard, from a local point of view. Coupled with one doubtful derision at first base by Umpire Eddy, two or three blngles after seven rank errors had taken the tuck out of "Ole" Olson, the lanky home heaver, the: story of how the -Hamburgers trimmed the town talent to the tune of 7 to 3 Is easily told.

iThe costly foozles were made on the Infield. Hancock at first and Smith at third being the principal offenders. Sometimes when they got the ball they didn't seem to know what to do with It, and would hold.U whlleftljd iunners ad vanced -a Ttiire 1 wf rei Alphonse-Caston i In tact 'al kinds stunts that go, to make up a. weird ex- iiiumun or i ne; nnitmai pas nine, ana in the fatal (fifth, nslxfh and sessions. i On ths Line.

The Hamburgers j. brought vj3oyn "Shoe's" Pflrman, late of the 'Southern California Winter, and sent him to the firing line. "Shoes' was; sufficient to do the "hold-down" business as It happened, but several itlmes he showed signs of going pretty much to the queer. Brilliant fielding backed him up at these critical stages, and cut off San Fernar-dlno chances. The locals 'filled 'the cushions In "the first but men were1 "left stranded, a strikeout and death at first ending it.

kicked through, with run In the second, however." 6lson waJk'f ed with two down, took second on a passed ball and scored on Teck's single! to right. From, then on the. Hamburgers had things their own way until thai eighth. Somebody said there was too mtich'onion mixed wltfj Pfifman's offerings, and that the ttie Vegetable' affected' the battltiff glims 'of the Stars, It piaV Anyhqw, nothing doing, After letting the' visitors down hit-less and runless for" four innings; trouble started to' loom up iri the fifth for "String Bean" Olson; on- tha. rubber for the locals.

Incidentally, -Olson twirled a brilliant game, whiffng 11 and: walking but one. Te hlts, however, camit together, after the. glaring, mlsplays had all but put San. Bernardino1 out of Jt. Doubtful Decision.

A doubtful decision at first by Umpire Eddy 'allowed the Hamburgers to even up the score. Hancock reached for the throw to the1 left of the bag, opposite the- umpire. The latter thought his foot was off the sack, but those sitting In the grandstand, better able to see tlift play, knew better. Anyhow, the batter got on. A sacrifice and, an error counted him.

In the sixth a hit nd two more lovely miscues cost two more, and in the seventh some more of it, with four clean, clouts, one a double, made the ecorekeeper ring the hell, thrice. Just to keep It going, another was put across In the ninth. Trouble loomed 'up fjnr Pflrmari, In the eighth, and lt-looked aithpugh, sure-enough rally was'on -'ftie tapist Dorsch opened wjtl a single nd stqle second. Papoli single scored imi i Waters' hit put', pace- on third, mit' he was caught Irving to score on joflnson's grounder. Smith flew out but Hancock cut loose 4 single to left on which Waters came In.
