SAN BERNARDINO DAILY SUN, WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 17, 1937 Fred Cunnison Claims Bride Al Church Rile At an impressive candle-light ser vice Sunday evening, Miss Dorothy Elm'und, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Elmlund, became the bride of James Frederick Cunnison son of Mrs. Fred Tinsjleaf of Riv erside and James F.

Cunnison of San Bernardino. The ceremony was solemnized during the vesper hour by Rev. Oscar Elmquist in Eden Lutheran church, Riverside. Preceding the exchange of vows Miss Mildred Moody sang "Ah, Sweet Mystery of Life and "I Love You Truly," accom panied by Miss Martha Barnes. Waldemar Hemborg played the wedding march from "Lohengrin." Wearing a princess gown of white satin with an heirloom tulle veil and carrying a sheaf of bride's roses and gardenias, the bride was charming as she approached the al- tar on her father's arm.

She wore a brooch her mother had worn on her wedding day and carried a lovely Armenian lace handkerchief given her by Mrs. A. W. Walker, who used it on her wedding day 28 years ago- Miss Minnetta Dean of Los An- I' geles was maid of honor, gowned I In tinniinien hlun chiffon and ennv- Ing Briarcliffe roses and gardenias. 'Miss Elvira Elmlund and Miss Louise Fossum, bridesmaids, wore I1 flowing peach colored gowns and Ijcarried sheafs of Talisman roses.

Charles JMancc of ban rancisco, served him as best man, while the ushers were the four brothers of Lthe bride, Leland, Edgar, Frederick and Vernon Elmlund. After the ceremony a reception was held in the parish house where bride, assisted by Miss Edna Bailey, cut her wedding cake. More than 300 guests were present for the nuptials. To go away the bride wore a brown tailored suit with matching accessories. After a short wedding trip Mr.

and Mrs. Cunnison will re turn to make their home in River- Side. The bride, a graduate of the Riv erside high school class of 1929, 1b employed by the A. M. Lewis company.

The bridegroom moved from San Bernardino a few years ago and is a graduate of the IPivprcirla nnllntro ilnoa it ll932. He is employed by the INotinifll Biscuit, company. Both young people are popular members of Eden Lutheran church. Miss Ferguson elcomed on Surprise Visit The arrival cf Miss Hazel Fer guson from Washington, D. in time to join them for their meeting proved a delightful surprise for members of Psi chapter, -Beta Sig ma Phi sorority when they gathered Monday evening at the home of Rosina Heiz in Seventeenth street.

Miss Ferguson, a charter member of the chapter, has been in Government work in Washington, attached to the Veterans' administration de partment. She Is stopping in San Bernardino a few days, en route from the national capital to Port land, where she has been transferred, and next week will take up new duties in the Federal communications commission. She Is particularly happy over the transfer In that her people reside near Portland. I Eusiness was quickly taken care of by the sorority president, Jean Colley, and the planned program for the evening dispensed with so that the group might exchange experi ences with Miss Ferguson. She gave vivid accounts of her experiences in Washington during her two years' stay, and aside from describing the countless memorials and places of interest to be seen in and around the capital city, gave somo interesting highlights on Gov ernment activities.

She also told of contacting Beta Sigma Phi members in Washington where there are two chapters. She attended a num ber of their meetings although she did not transfer her membership from San Bernardino chapter. Tentative plans were discussed by the chapter members for. their an- I nual Birthday dinner which will be held on March 8. Groups to Welcome Commander Rollins Noblo camp and auxiliary, United Spanish War Veterans, will meet jointly Thursday night at the American Legion hall to honor the department president of the California camps, A. R. Sorenson and staff. Marshall UnU Is Planning a Novel Benefit An evening which promises to interest members of the Marshall A. and their friends was planned by a committee which met Monday with Mrs. Virgil Martin at her home, 847 Edgehill road.

They planned a progressive dinner to be held on Tuesday, Feb. 23. The salad and entree courses will be served at 7 o'clock at the Virgil Martin home, after which the party will progress to the W. S. Martens residence at 3396 Mayfleld avenue for dessert and coffee.

The Martens home will also be the setting for the bridge game planned as the after-dinner diversion. The affair is being given as a benefit for the A. unit and the support of all friends is being solicited. Because of illness the benefit tea the unit had planned for next Saturday, Feb. 20, at the Glenn Pearson home.

O. Johnsons Winter visitors who are enjoying a delightful stay in San Bernardino and other Southern California cities are Mr. and Mrs. George Pa-pik of Tyler, Texas, and Mr. and Mrs.

A. W. Littlefield of Millsap, Texas. They motored out for a two weeks' visit. They have been the houseguests of Mr.

and Mrs. Joel C. Johnson of 1217 Base Line, and during their stay have been taken on a number of motor trips about the valley, and to the 'desert and mountains. This week they are spending a few days in Pasadena with friends and relatives. They will return for the opening of the Orange Show Thursday evening.

Mrs. Papik is a sister of Mr. Johnson, and Mr. Papik, who is president of the Tyler Tennis club Is interested in remaining in San Bernardino until after the dedication of the new tennis courts at Perris Hill park, and the inauguration of the tennis club there. He is proprietor of a sporting goods business In Tyler.

Last Sunday was Mrs. Papik's birthday anniversary and to mark the occasion Mr. and Mi's. Johnson entertained with a dinner party at their residence. A big birthday cake with pink candles at either side centered the lace covered table at which places were laid for the honoree and her husband, Mr.

and Mrs. Papik, Mr. and Mrs. Littlefield, Mr. and Mrs.

W. O. Johnson Colton; Mr. and Mrs. T.

J. Johnson, Brea; Mrs. Frank Hammer and Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Johnson of Long Beach, Worth Duke of San Pedro, and the hosts.

A separate table was set for the children of the party. Friends Gather For Farewell At Lovely Tea Mrs. Samuel Featherslone (Clara Hamilton), who has been visiting here with her family since before the holidays gathered a few of her friends for an informal tea Monday afternoon at the J. F. Hamilton home, 1010 street.

Her sailing delayed because of the shipping strike Mrs. Feather-stone and her five-months old daughter are sailing for the Hawaiian Islands on Saturday, Feb. 27. Their home is on the Island of Maui where Mr. Featherstone is in charge of one of the radio communication stations In the islands.

Mrs. Featherstone was assisted during the afternoon by her two sisters, Mrs. C. L. Wellwood and Miss Faye Hamilton, and small Jean was introduced to the company.

The lace covered tea table was colorfully appointed with flowers and candles in the Valentine colors, with Mrs. J. P. Maloof and Mrs. Wellwood presiding at the coffee and tea urns.

Others In the company enjoying the pleasant gathering with Mrs. Featherstone before her departure were Mesdames C. C. Owen, Henry Cram, John Baylis, Arthur Varden, A. R.

Hill, and the Misses Louise Corcoran, Dorothy Doolittle and Helyn Stewart. Baby Daughter Is Welcomed by Couple Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Motchman of 980 Belleview avenue are receiving congratulations over the birth of a lovely baby daughter, who was born Monday morning at the residence. The baby, who is the third child of the couple, has been named Patricia Ann.
