1KI ACTRA MMDS On April 14, the luminaries of Canadian radio and television will gather in the Hotel Toronto ballroom to honor 16 of their members for excellence in their endeavors in 1976. The ACTRA Awards dinner, with Pierre Berton, Barbara Frum, and Gordon Pinsent as hosts, will be carried on the CBC network. ACTRA is an abbreviation of Canadian Television and Radio Artists which lists over 4,800 members. The judging for the ACTRA Awards is done by 16 national judging panels with a total of 70 judges. In each category, the judges vote twice.

The first vote reduces the nominations to three finalists. The second vote selects the winners. The ballots are sent to a firm of chartered accountants and are secret until the names are read at the award ceremonies. The winner in each category is pre sented with a Nellie, a statuette created by Bill McElchran.
