Airth is in charge of the city police lost and found department which has gathered an impressive number of the machines into the basement of the old Civic Block. Anyone who lost a bicycle during the year is asked to identify and claim it.

These officers are all graduates of the U. of A. COTC. 60 Dental Unit Re-organization of Edmonton's 60th Dental Unit under the new commander, G. Geld-art, is progressing favorably and by the year-end a full-scale training program will be under way.

One of the most important developments so far this year is the addition of 30 CWAC to the unit strength. Twenty-five are taking recruit training under the direction of the unit training officer and with the aid of the Instructional Cadre. WO 2 Hether-ington and Sgt. Company pursued its normal program of training in regimental police duties, cooking, signals and transport driving on Saturday. Company trained at the Hamilton Gault Barracks and covered map reading, first aid, drill and the FN rifle. Support Company is covering similar subjects on Tuesday evenings.

On Sunday the CO, G. J. Armstrong, conducted a national survival exercise and representatives of the 23 Militia group units which comprise the mobile support column attended along with the regimental officers. The regimental Christmas party will be held at Con-naught Armories at 8:30 p.m. Dec.

10. 7th Ordnance Bn. With an increase in strength this year of 23 men, seven CWAC and one officer, the 7th Ordnance Battalion has made a good start in its 1960-61 training program. A few more potential recruits are being considered and encouragement is still being given to members of the unit to bring their friends. The unit also has candidates on cooks course, First Aid course and clerk administrative course. The national survival training program is well under way and training Is being organized for junior and senior NCO training and driver training. The officers all are undertaking a general refresher course. Socially, there are two important nights ahead: Dec. 16, an all-ranks Christmas party for members and their husbands or wives and Feb.

Wright was author of the novels Native Son and Black Boy. Arctic Station Opens SPECIAL TO THE JOURNAL INUVIK, N.W.T.-The CBC's first Arctic radio station went on the air here last Saturday.

The station will serve a listening audience estimated at 5,000 persons, living in communities in the Mackenzie Delta district and along the Arctic Coast. To be known as "CHAK Inu-vik," the station will bring to the area taped programs from the CBC's dominion and trans-Canada networks. News, sports and special events will be re-broadcast after being picked up from shortwave transmitted by the CBC from their transmitters at Sackville, N.B. Local programs will include messages to residents of isolated areas and features in the Eskimo and Indian languages. CHAK has a staff of seven, headed by Barclay McMillan.

By using the call letters "CHAK," the CBC is honoring CHAK Aklavik, a pioneer radio station which is going out of business. For 16 years it has been operated by naval station personnel, assisted by Aklavik residents. The Aklavik station was the first to broadcast within the Arctic Circle. A book, "Mo-peds and Scooters," has been issued in England. It tells all about how to buy, ride and maintain them.

Church Meef Opens Forty ministerial delegates from the four western provinces registered Tuesday for the midyear convocation of the northwest Canada conference of the Evangelical United Brethren Church being held at the Richmond Park Church, 69 Ave. and 95 St. The general theme of the three-day convocation is "Evangelism and Prayer." Guest speaker is Dr. John R. Knecht, international headquarters, Dayton, Ohio.

Dr. Knecht who is assistant secretary of the board of evangelism, has had many years of experience in the field of evangelism and missions. Tuesday Dr. Knecht noted some of the different qualities of the world it is a global-minded world that is shrinking; it is a satellite-sending world conscious of the space age; it is a pleasure-mad world; it is a "depersonalized," lonely world; it is a fearful, basically pessimistic world. Above all it is a world that God loves and cares for, he said.
