Iron RoseBible Class BY WILLIAM H. IDG WAY. IRONMASTER. LtMon for March 7. Philip and the Ethiopian.

Acts 8:26 38. (Copyrighted by Wm. X. BJdrvay. mated by permlssloa Sunday School Times) THE GREAT DISPATCHER.

Verse 26. An angel of the Lord saying, Go toward the South. Why? Reeause there was another man on the move and there was a connection to be made. Xo man runs by chance through this world any more than a train dins. It is a part of God's plan that you make connection with iliis Sunday-school lesson.

You can never say that Christ was never earnestly presented to you after this lesson. God had me write it In order that you niifiht read It. Who knows for what great purpose God Is running you if you are obedient to Ms will? Nothing "happens" but a wreck! God has a schedule. Let him run you on It. Ps.

As I write, the tunnels under the East River at New York have just been opened for business. The official who operates the many trains running through the tunnels has In his office, for away from the roar of the trains, a chart operated by electricity. I'pon this chart run miniature trains corresponding with the movement of the teal trains in the tunnel. From this chart every train can be controlled. Fy simply pressing a button the official can immediately stop and start any and all trains.

If one train should break down the official at the chart sees It at once and stops the following trains without the motorman. And it seems to me this is the way God operates this world of ours. This is how He ran Philip, the Ethiopian and you, and me. "GO!" Verse 29. Go near and join thyself to this chariot.

The Greeks were the brainy fellows of the ancient world. Philip was one. Prainy boys are quick and flexible. The angel simply says, and away he oe8 and osks no questions. He gets further directions later in "There's your man." This is why some men succeed while others fail.

An angel is always pointing for you but you don't go. Looks like nothing but desert. So you crowd into already overcrowded professions or trade's squeeze in among the strap hangers when you might take an automobile! Maybe God wanted you to practice medicine in China, teach Africans the handicrafts use you somewhere where you would tower above men like a Philip, a Carey, a Moffet. a Livingston, a Mackey. A young woman once asked me to give her the reasons why she should go as a missionary.

I gave her the usual ones. Then I pointed to the horizon, where upon one side was a woods and on the other open fields with nothing against the sky but one noble chestnut standing out alone in all Its beauty. "See that woods," I said, "that's the rest of us. See that splendid tree out there by itself a landmark for miles well, that's the missionary." Always be alert of angel direction. Then go.

God is "personally conducting" his world and has provided for everything. (Ps. Phil. ON THE RUN. Verse 30.

And Philip ran to him. Now you know Philip! Are you a runner or an "I'll-see-about-It, automobile or Ice wagon? Just as big a demand for men with speed as for horses with speed. Wanted boys who can get there and get back. Running indicates interest. Also life.

Old worn out men and women can not run and do not want to run. Nor lazy no account boys. God likes fellows who run as well as man does. It develops the heart. (Ps.

When I try to run nowadays my poor old heart seems to be trying to pound its way through my ribs. That is because I have been an office man so long. I have "lost my wind." I stopped running years ago. This is what is the matter with lots of God'o children. "The King's business requires haste." So does your employer's business.

Live Christians do God's business on the run. They get the running habit in business. This is why successful Christians are generally successful In business either as employers or employees. We have a little Irishman in our employ who took our breath away the first day he came to us as an apprentice. We sent him up town, a mile away, on an errand.

I He was there and back so quickly the firm at once sat up and took notice. He still does things "on the jump." During the dull times he was not laid off. In fact, he is assistant foreman. Philip did things the same way and God liked him, used him, blessed him and honored him. GUIDANCE.

Verse 31. How can I except some one shall guide me? Now you know the Ethiopian and why he was a man "of great authority." Know-it-alls never rise. All truly able men require continual guidance, in their specialty. That is what the packed book shelves mean. The smartest men make no important moves without asking guidance.

Many a man's greatness consists in his skill in getting guides. The most devout men are the most diligent scripture searchers. All of us need to be taught in many things. (Matt. Heb.

The value of the The true teacher is the one who guides us to see things. Ruskin guides us in painting, architecture and the beautiful universe about us. The Holy Spirit guides us into the beauty of the things of God. In the present instance the written word and the personal touch are both used. Sunday-school teachers take notice.

We get all our knowledge by Installments, "a dollar down and a dollar a week," an idea down and an idea a day. Isaac, the furniture man, has grown rich in dolars, and you can get rich in knowledge and godliness. Hilly Merrick, who knows intelligently almost the whole New Testament by heart, tells me he got it by committing three verses every day and holds it by reviewing five chapters. If you go through life without accomplishing anything worth while, It will be because you will not be taught or guided. The secret biography of every successful life always reveals a guide.

Who is yours? (Jer. YOUR BUSINESS. Verse 35, Philip preached unto him Jesus. Didn't tell him about the "other Isaiah." Didn't call his attention to the literary beauty of this gem of Hebrew poetry. Didn't show off, Just "preached unto him Jesus." Simply "opened his mouth" and the Holy Spirit filled it.

(Luke Do you open your mouth on religion? I mean you fellows v.ho are "professors." Open your mouths on other things, why not on tho test things? Thousands of non-Christian men in office and shop are waiting for the Christian word and really expecting it and really wishing it yes, actually hungry for it. God has planted this soul longing in the human race bluster, brag and business can't kill It. No Christian who ever spoke to an associate in business or in work, about his soul, has ever been badly treated. There is not an unsaved man who reads this note but would be flattered to have any one of dozens of Christian men he knows and respects show an Interest in the welfare of his soul. Preach Jesus to him tomorrow if God tells you to.

God has him all ready for you. HALF DOERS. Verse 37. If thou believest with all thine heart. "All," not half.

If half of you fellows succeed in getting good places in life and half of you fail, it will be because half of you are half hearted. Which half do you belong to? Whole heartedness Is the price of all the best things in life, beginning with Salvation and ending with business success. One traveling salesman met another. "Hello, Jim! How are you getting on?" "Fine, Sam." Have an Interest in the business." "No! You don't say? How did that happen?" "Well, the old man called me In the other day, and said If I didn't wake up an take an interest in the business he would Are me." This is an old one but it illustrates the point I am making. Ia many things God and man are alike.

Both like whole hearted people. This Ethiopian was a business man. Note his creed. "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God." That is all there Is of it. He didn't say he would "try to be a Christian." The trying, I reckon, came in after he got home down there at the court of Candace.
