1 Four young apprentices who scored their initial victories last season and several others who will make their debut here are included in the riding colony. Those ho made a successful start on jockey careers last year are Frank Barroby, Jack Troute, Jack Whittle and Gene Giesbreclt. Nine of the riders who will see action here this spring have made the headlines in past years with victories in major stakes and added money handicaps in the West. They are Lou Davies, general manager and was outstanding at Oregon meetings at Portland Meadows, Gresham and Salem. Another fine rider who Is already at the track is Darwin Howell, 26, who hails from Post, and who was runner-up to Shields for top honors in the west last season.

During 1961 he had a total of 122 victories. A veteran who won the prairie riding crown in 1933 and 1954, Ken Coppernoll, 36, from Portland, Oregon, advised officials Thursday that he is coming here from Vancouver and will be checking in before the meeting starts.
