REPHH THRONGING luAGC the same in that the delegates were responsible to their constituents and not to him have had the effect of focusing particular attention upon the New York delegation, especially with reference to the attitude to be taken with regard to the vice presi dency. Representative Sherman of New York, one of the men generally mentioned In connection with the second place on the ticket, is among today's arrivals, and his presence is expected to lend impetus to the movement in his behalf. Second Place Gossip. The New York delegation probably will hold a caucus late today or Monday to discuss the situation. There are leaders of the party here who be-iieve that the vice presidency should go to some Eastern State, and as New York i3 regarded as debatable ground, it is believed that the delegation from that State can wield considerable influence in the choice of a second place candidate.

So far, however, the delegation is instructed on i.v to present the name of Governor Hughes for the presidency and vote for him when the balloting begins. The deteimination of the "allies" to iaij iru uiii ujui an aiuug llic: Hilt; is sustaining interest in the plans in the- various State delegations that are bound by instructions for one or another of the candidates other than Mr. Taft. Nearly all cf the State delegations are expected tio hold caucuses on Monday. Tomorrow will be heavy with arrivals, and Monday is expected to see the greatest Influx of delegates and visitors, The convention will be called to order by National Chairman Harry S.

New at noon on Tue day. The vice presidential situation had early tolay given no hint of clearing up, end is occupying the attention of ill the convention delegates and the followers who are here. The uew arrivals make their first inquiry as to ihe second place situation, but are confronted with non-committal replies to tTie effect that those here on the ground are but little better posted tlian the more distant, of incoming delegates on" the proposition to ihiow the prize inlo the arena of the convention to be fought for and1 won by the strongest bidder, is gaining many enthusiastic supporters. It certainly would add immensely to the interest In the proceedings of the convention and give the individual del egates a part in making the selection. There are so many candidates men- tioned in connection with the office that a popular, open vote seems to offer a most satisfactory solution of the problem.

MEMBERS OF DIPLOMATIC CORPS TO BE PRESENT Members of th national committee are resting today alter their arduous work of the past week. The committee sat many hours to hear dispose of the more than 200 contested places on the temporary roll of the convention, and there was a general sigh of relief when their labors were concluded last night. The decision ofthe committee gave Secretary Taft an instructed strength of G03 delegates, although his man ager, Frank H. Hitchcock, issued' a statement claiming that on the first ballot the secretary of war would receive 703, or those instructed and HOME Of GOOD Talk $18.00 $16.67 $15.00 $20.00 Suits 1-3 Now $18.00 Suits 1-3 iNOW Si 5.00 Suits 1-3 Now JOMS Largest and Handsomest Clothing 455-457 Third Street. pledged delegates being counted.

I Secretary Taft lost only four of all the contested1 cases. Two of those were in the fifth Virginia district, where a Foraker delegate was seated because a man who issued a call for "white men only" was allowed to act as secretary of the district convention. Two of the members of the diplomatic corps are expected to come from Washington next week to witness the proceedings of the convention, and in a sense they will be personal guests of President Roosevelt, inasmuch as when it was found that the national committee had no seats available for the diplomatic corps, the president gave up' twenty-five ot the seats allotted to him. Ambassadors Bryce of Great Britain and Jus-seraud of France are among the most distinguished of the foreign guests expected. RUSH ON FOR ADMISSION TICKETS TO CONVENTION CHICAGO, June 13.

One seat in the Coliseum $123. This is the latest market quotation for convention seats. Such a rush for admission tickets was never before witnessed at a Republican convention, according to officials, and with the demand for seals there has come a high market price. "1 never knew such an avalanche of applications for seats," said Chairman New. "I have heard1 of numerous offers of money for tickets being made to holders.

The highest price that has been offered, as far as I know, is $123. Some people are so anxious to get into the convention that they are paying any price within reason $50 cr $75 offers, so I am informed, are common." The $125 offer came from a board of rade man who wants two tickets. He offered $250, for the seats. But 'he could not find anyone who would sell. VITAL RECORD LICENSED.
