BARSTOW, Match 2S. (Regular correspondence of THE, SL'N.) A company has jus: been iuccrporated to bore for oil about ten miles north of Barstow.

Members are wealthy Pasadena and Barstow men. The company will be known as the Pasa-dena-Barstow Oil Producing company, with R. Slayden presfdent; 0. Lowell, vice-president, and Don Fer guson treasurer. The company has incorporated for $500,000, and already enough stock has been subscribed for to begin operations.

A standard rig will be on the ground in a few weeks, and active operations will begin. This is the third attempt to find oil in this se'etion; one company, known as the Kramer Consolidated I uu company, lias gone down to a great depth, but men who claim to know say that this company is out of the belt, which extends from Black's canyon, which extends in a southeasterly direction to a point near Daggett. The other company started to drill near Black's canyon, and after spending about $12,000 only got down less than 500 feet, owing to the Incompetency of the drill er a'nd the mismanagement of the head of the company. Parties work ing on this well claim that the indications were very fine; certainly the surface indications are fine, as the shale can be rubbed together and will emit a very strong odor of oil. Another company, composed of wealthy ladies from Pasadena and Ocean Park, is being formed to work some land near the Pusadena-Bar-sow company's proposed location.
