The Packers have 108 boxes at Lambeau Field, with 90 more being built. They rent for between $15,000 and $20,000 annually, plus the costs of season tickets.
Harlan said since 1985, when the first private boxes were leased, the club has lost $15 million playing in Milwaukee and would lose another $12 million over the next four years. "We've got to take full advantage of our stadium," Harlan said after the team's board of directors voted 45-0 Wednesday to leave Milwaukee. Harlan said the approximately 46,000 season-ticket holders at County Stadium will be offered season-ticket packages at Lambeau Field that will include an exhibition game and the second and sixth regular-season games every year. The 54,000 season-ticket holders already at Lambeau will get a seventh game added to their package, which this year cost between $144 and $168. Harlan said the roughly 3,000 people on the waiting list at County Stadium will be offered the new three-game packages, as will about half of the 15,000 on the waiting list for Lambeau.
Hie move was a blow to fans and businesses in Milwaukee, about 120 miles south of Green Bay, which haa a population of 96,000. Mayor John Norquist and Milwaukee county executive Thomas Ament said past support of the Packers by the city's fans helped keep the team going during the NFL's dark days when even the league's future was dim. "The Green Bay franchise would not exist today without the past support of Milwaukee and its fans," Ament said. Said Harlan: That's exactly why the Milwaukee people are included on the ticket list" GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) The Green Bay Packers will live up to their name next year.
Team president Bob Harlan said Wednesday the team haa decided to abandon Milwaukee, where the Packers have played part of their football schedule every year since the Great Depression. The decision leaves the NFL without a presence in Milwaukee for the first time since 1932, when the Brooklyn Dodgers, Portsmouth Spartans and Ststen Island Stapletons dotted the pro football landscape. In recent years, the Packers have played one exhibition and three regular-season games at aging County Stadium, home of baseball's Milwaukee Brewers, where both teams lined up on the same sideline. Fans with four-game season tickets at County Stadium will be offered three-game packages at storied Lambeau Field, where the waiting list is longer than 15,000 and where only a dozen seats came open this year. "We are abandoning a ballpark.
We are not abandoning the people whose parents and grandparents supported this organization," Harlan said. The last game at County Stadium will be Dec. 1 8 against Atlanta. Packers general manager Ron Wolf, coach Mike Holmgren and many players have said they want all their home games at Lambeau Field. "It's such a waste to use Lambeau Field only five times a year," defensive tackle Don Davey said.
But the Packers were particularly successful in Milwaukee, where they won 63 percent of the time (103-61-3), compared to 52 percent (126-111-6) in Green Bay since the team started splitting home games in 1933. Harlan said the Packers won't renew their lease at County C. Landry T. McManus 37-23 34-26 St. Thomas More St.

They'll score a touchdown. Make it two. Early needs seven more receptions to reach 200 in his seven year career, and 84 more yards to hit the mark. In the Saints' 17-7 loss to the Chicago Bears last Sunday, Early caught three passes for 44 yards and the only New Orleans touchdown. This year, Michael Haynes was brought in to provide the Saints' deep threat and Early knew it was going to boost his game.
"Having Michael here has really helped my game this year," Early said. "I knew it would. Before, I was running all the deep routes. Now instead of just going down the field to get other people open, I can run some different patterns and get open myself." Early got to training camp a week early this summer so he could spend the time getting to know new quarterback Jim Everett and working with him. "It takes a while for a receiver and a quarterback to get the kind of communication they need to be really successful," Early said.
"You have to learn things about each other. You have to build a mutual confidence." That mutual confidence has paid off. Everett has found Early 31 times this year for 400 yards and two touchdowns. "I know that if a ball is catchable, Quinn will catch it," Everett said. (Continued from Page 5) "After the first game, they let me know that I wasn't going to be playing anymore," Early remembered.
They wrote me off before I even stepped on the field. I was a young player and it really hurt my confidence." Early Baid he went in every day wondering if he would be cut. By the time the Chargers made him available as a Plan free agent, Early's confidence was so low he wasn't expecting much. Imagine his surprise when 19 teams called him. He found a solid spot on the Saints.
Used as their deep receiver, Early played second fiddle to Eric Martin, the Saints' all-time reception leader and a former LSU star, but has slowly inched up their record list Catch-22. SUNDAY Oilers seek turnaround HOUSTON (AP) This is the point where the lights came on for the Houston Oilers last season. Last year, the Oilers took a 1-4 record into their sixth game, then reeled off 11 straight victories. They're 1-4 again this season, but no one expects tonight's game against the Cleveland Browns (4-1) to start Pro picks Dallas, Philly showdown set By The Associated Press It's time to find out if the Big Three are as good as they seem. After breezing through the first half of the season, top-ranked Florida, No. 2 Nebraska and No.
3 Penn State face huge hurdles Saturday in their bid for the national championship. Florida (5-0) plays No. 6 Auburn (6-0), which brings the nation's longest winning streak to Gainesville. Nebraska (6-0) visits No. 16 Kansas State (4-0), which boasts a 16-game unbeaten streak at home.
And Penn State (5-0) travels to No. 5 Michigan (4-1), which is one Hail Mary pass away from being undefeated. One 17-game winning streak is bound to be broken at Florida Field. That's the number of consecutive games won by Auburn and the length of Florida's Southeastern Conference streak at The Swamp. The Gators have been awesome so far, outscoring their opponents 254-60 and leading the country in rushing defense.
The Tigers, meanwhile, have had a couple of close calls, beating Mississippi 22-17 and edging LSU 3026 with four defensive touchdowns. But they have always found a way to win under Terry Bowden, who is undefeated in lVi seasons as a major college coach. Florida is a 16-point favorite, but the game will be much closer FLORIDA 28-24. Penn State makes its first visit ever to Michigan, which won their initial meeting last season, 21-13, at Happy Valley. The Nittany Lions have won every game this season by at least 24 points, but Michigan has played much harder schedule.
The Wolverines have met three teams currently in the Top 25, beating No. 24 Boston College and No. 17 Notre Dame before losing to No. 4 Colorado on a last-second, 64-yard TD pass. That preparation will pay off gainst Penn State, which is a one-point underdog MICHIGAN 31-28.
Nebraska haa beaten Kansas State 25 straight times, the last 21 under Tom Osborne. However, the Wildcats have given the Huskers care two of the past three years, losing 38-31 in 1991 and trailing by only three points midway through the fourth quarter last year before Nebraska scored two late TDs for a 45-28 victory. With Tommie Frazier out for the season and Brook Berringer still recovering from a partially collapsed lung, Nebraska is extremely shaky at quarterback. And the defense must find a way to contain K-State quarterback Chad May, who threw for a Big Eight-record 489 yards against the Huskers last year. Forget that Nebraska is an eight-point favorite.

Now he's got one in Charlie Garner and is being second-guessed about using him too much. Why quibble? After losing their first game, the Eagles go into Dallas Sunday tied with the Cowboys at 4-1. A win and they take control of the NFC East for the time being. In some ways, the Eagles are lucky this game is being played in Dallas. Two years ago, the same scenario played out on a Monday night in Philadelphia when the Cowboys (3-0) came in to face the Eagles (3-0).
The city went bonkers the pregame show came on at 6 a.m. and the Eagles won 31-7. They never recovered. Philadelphia lost its next two games, lost in Dallas, then lost again there in the playoffs. Dallas went on to win the first of its two Super Bowls.
