Irene's determination, quiet strength and mischievous sense of humor will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Condolences Tributes www.crgamble.com MUNRO, Lillian Jean June 13, 1928 January 7, 2011 It is with great sadness that the family of Lillian Jean Munro announces her passing on Friday, January 7, after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer's Disease. Jean passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at the Perley and Rideau Veterans' Health Centre. Born in St. John's, Newfoundland, she lived most of her life in Toronto. She was predeceased by her parents, Marion (Squires) and Fred Rumsey, and her sisters, Shirley and Alma.

For 52 years, Jean shared her life with her loving husband, the late William (Bill) Munro. She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Gary (Wendy) of Ft. Saskatchewan, AB: Connie (Joe McKendy) of Ottawa; and Paul (Diane) of Georgetown, ON. She was the proud and loving Grandma of Brendan and Christopher McKendy, Colleen Munro, and Geoff Gus (Tina Sam). On a visit west a few years ago, she delighted in the company of her greatgrandchildren, Jerzy and Haven Gus.

She is survived by her sister Lorraine (Lon) Keats of Toronto, brother-in-law Don MacLeod of Milton, ON, and many nieces and nephews and their families. Funeral to be held in Toronto. Thanks to the staff of the Perley, and to Eileen Whiteley, who helped to make Jean's last few months as comfortable as possible. Katherine, Gillian, Amelia. Karl, Elizabeth and Kelly. Great to Braden, Ryan, Jacob, Ben, Sarah, and Adrianna. Daughter of Philips and Helen Macdonnell, late of Kingston, sister of the late Margot (Morris) and the late Elisabeth (Burgess). Friend and companion of many years to Charles Tanner (d.

1995). Janet was born in Port Arthur, but grew up in Kingston and married Foster, a veteran of World War Il, in 1948. Their contributions to the baby boom quickly followed. Air Force life took them to many postings, including Germany and western Canada. After many years of raising children, Janet became an elementary teacher in 1964, and taught in Ottawa for many years.

She was proud of the contribution that she made to the education of the children she taught, and it was a profession she shared with Foster, who chose teaching as a second career. Both held positions their respective teacher federations. Janet completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1974 and was a proud graduate of Queen's University. Janet continued to enjoy her love of travel and her membership in the Rotary Club of West Ottawa. Ed had a long and varied life and career across Canada with jobs in the Navy, Federal Government, and the BC Provincial Government. His many friends in Vancouver, Ottawa, Yellowknife, Halifax, and everywhere in between will miss him dearly. A memorial of Ed's Life will be held on Saturday, January 15th.
