Obituaries AGIUS, Anthony Julian Retired Federal Government- Research Economist Anthony (Tony) Agius, 87. passed away Tuesday, February 26. 2013. He will be sadly missed by dear wife Pam.

Proud father of Tom and his, Gillian (Del) Atwood. Cherished grandfather of Peter, Paul and Mark; and family friend Micheline Courbet. Tony will be missed by family in England; sister Gemma Christine Thompson, (John) nieces Batter Ann and (David) nephew Mays; (Ann) Agius. Tony was born in Hamrun, During WWII Tony served with the Royal Air Force in Malta. Following education at St Andrew's University, Scotland he moved to Canada in 1955 for postgraduate studies at McGill.

He brought his family to Ottawa in 1965 where he was employed by the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada followed by work with the Dept. of Labour (Research Economist) and the Federal Superannuates National Association. Over the years interests included cooking, gardening, computers, art, Catholic theology and riding his Lambretta. Funeral mass will take place on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at 11 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, 1758 Alta Vista Dr. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ottawa Hospital Foundation greatly appreciated by the family.

HE LAN FUNERAL HOME Passed away peacefully at Columbia Forest Long- Term Care Centre, Waterloo on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at the age of 101. Predeceased by his wife Ida Fern (nee Trowbridge) in 1985. Kenneth is survived by his children, Linda Grant (Ed Feick) of Waterloo and Flesherton, Tanya Fitzpatrick (Garry) of Montreal and Boston, and David Baird (Betty Ann) of Victoria and Delhi.

Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Christopher Baird (Elaine), Stephen Baird (Melanie). Jennifer Fitzpatrick (Jacques), Fitzpatrick, Jamie Fitzpatrick (Jenifer), Marcia Fitzpatrick (Rick), Alison Phillips (Andrew) and Trevor Grant, as well as 14 great-grandchildren. Kenneth is also survived by his brother, Norman Baird (Margaret) of Ottawa and sister, Helen Couchand (Emile) of Bradenton, Florida. Predeceased by his parents, David and Mary (Lewis) Baird and eight brothers and sisters. Kenneth was a dentist, serving as Director General with the Royal Canadian Dental Corps, with the Canadian Armed Forces from 1939 1967.

He served overseas during World War Il from 1941 1945. He was also the Queen's Honorary Dental Surgeon during that time. After retiring, he went on to become the Director of Clinics at the University of Western Ontario in London from 1968 1976. Following this, he continued to work at the university well into his 80s. He was also a volunteer with the London Family and Children's Services for many years.

Ken kept himself very active over the years. He enjoyed many hobbies such as wine making, gardening, golf, curling as well as making furniture and creating models of tall ships. He was an accomplished artist. He enjoyed spending time with his family and took great joy in his grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Ken's family will receive friends at the Erb Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St.

Waterloo on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 from 12 12:45 p.m. The memorial service will follow in the Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday. A reception will immediately follow the service at the funeral home. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment at Beechwood Cemetery, Ottawa will be held at a later date. (Ret'd) OBE, CD, QDS, DDS, FICD 1911-2013 Obituaries BARRETT, Harry John Ph.Eng A Graduate of the Royal Aircraft Establishment Technical College, Retiree of Atomic Energy of Canada Limited and a 32nd Degree Freemason Passed away peacefully at the Ottawa Heart Institute on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 in his 87th year. Born October 1st. 1926 in Colsterworth, England. Beloved husband of Kornelia Laub-Barrett (nee Hoffman).

Loving father of James Barrett (Darlene) of Ottawa, David Laub (Michelle) of Ottawa and John Laub (Kathryn) of Burlington. Predeceased by his parents Arthur John and Mary (nee Alexander) Barrett of England, his first wife Anne (nee Thomson) and his brother David of England. -in-law to Rosemary (Ealden) of England. He also served as Inspector of Civil Aviation at Transport Canada.

He retired as a director of Sergeant-at-Arms at the House of Commons. He was devoted to his family and friends and was always the life of the party. He loved music and those who knew him will remember the joy of being gathered around his piano. At Paul's request, there will be no visitation. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

The family would like to thank the staff at both the General Hospital Cancer Unit and the Palliative Care Unit at Elisabeth for their support. DRIFTMIER, John Frederick November 24,1982 February 24, 2013 A tragic plane crash in Kenya, on Sunday, February 24, 2013, took the life of rising filmmaker john Driftmier, 30 years old. President and CEO of John Driftmier Productions, John grew up in Calgary and attended Simon Fraser University where he studied film-making and met his beloved wife, Carolyn. John took the film-making world by storm, conceptualizing and directing such exciting documentary and reality programs as Highway Thru Hell (Discovery Channel), Dangerous Flights (Discovery Channel), License to Drill (Discovery Channel), Ice Pilots NWT (History Channel National Georaphic), Monster Moves (Discovery National Geographic) and All For Nothing (W Network), to name just a few.

John specialized in producing characte shows following people who worked in extreme conditions. John himself was an intrepid snowboarder and global adventurer, who fearlessly pursued the perfect shot to give us all a glimpse into unique lives we would never otherwise know. But John was so much more than his public image. He was the personification of humility, kindness, and generosity of spirit, with a smile that lit up every room. John never met a person who didn't count him as a cherished friend.

John died as he had lived, brave, passionate, and creatively capturing a vision that only he saw but that would one day be enjoyed by many. John leaves behind his loving wife, Carolyn Allen, mother, Sophia Lang, father, David Driftmier (Barbara), and brother Peter Driftmier. John will be sadly missed by his parents-in-law Leslie and Catherine Allen, sister-in-law Jessica Allen (Stephen), cousins Cassandra Palo, Christopher Palo (Renda), and Isabel Garcia-Sanchez (David), uncle Ron Zamora, grandmother Eva Horvath, stepsiblings David Perry, Jill Perry, and Jennifer Mass (Stephen). He loved his late grandparents John and Susanna Lang, and Frederick and Elizabeth Driftmier, as well as his aunt Mary Lea Zamora. Kind, compassionate, generous and inspiring, Wilf's greatest passion was his love for his family. Wilf was a legendary door-to-door cookware salesman, developed his own line of cookware called "Vitality" and in 1959 founded The Cookware Centre.

He also had a great passion for sports, a great love of reading. He will be dearly and lovingly missed by his children Randy (Michele), Marlene.
