Barbara spent her childhood in the tight-knit community of Arvida, Quebec, where she formed many lifelong friendships. She completed studies at McGill University, and the University of Wis -Madison where she earned her Doctorate in Biochemistry, and formed additional lifelong bonds. Her academic success laid the foundation for her valuable contributions to the various academic and government agencies to which she dedicated her time.

To say that Barbara was into sports only skims the surface her favourites included running. biking, skiing and paddling and she excelled at all. She developed a taste for camping and outdoor activities from a young age, which she carried with her throughout life. Barbara also passionately advocated for the rights of handicapped people. Barbara led a very full life, graced the lives of many and will be very dearly missed.

A memorial service will be held for Barbara in the Ballroom of the Palisades Retirement Home at 100 Isabella Street, Ottawa, on Saturday, July 17th, at 2 p.m. If desired, in memoriam donations can be made in her name to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. -025013 BEER, Chris Itis with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Chris Beer at age 42 on July 3, 2010. Chris was a kind, considerate and gentle man who was an accomplished runner and triathlete, goalie, woodworker, lover of nature and music.
