-01289520 What is Death? Death is nothing at all. I have only slipped away into the next room. I am I and you are you. Whatever we were to each other, that we still are. Call me by my old familiar name.

Speak to me in the easy way which you always used. Put no difference in your tone. Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.

Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without affect. without the trace of a shadow on it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same that it ever was.

There is absolutely unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am waiting for you. for an interval. somewhere very near. just around the corner.

All is well. Henry Scott Holland the guest book. OBITS THE OTTAWA CITIZEN NOTES THE FOLLOWING OBITUARIES IN TODAY'S PAPER. She was the only child of Violet (nee Makepeace) and Frederick (Ricky) Whiting of Buckingham, Buckinghamshire, England. During World War II, she met the love of her life, Peter (Petrus) Jacques, who was stationed at Finmere Aerodrome. They met at the Town Hall in Buckingham during a dance, and soon became enamored with each other. They were married on March 19, 1946. Happily, on March 19, 2016, they celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary.

After Peter finished his education, and they had their family, they decided that opportunities were better in the colonies, so they decided to immigrate Canada. Peter blazed the trail, leaving in 1957, and Vera looked after the family, following with them in 1958, to settle in Ottawa. Here they raised their children, Graham and Tina, and began to enjoy the finer things in life. They enjoyed camping with the children, then developed a love for the cruising life. Unfortunately, in her later years, Vera began to suffer from ill health.

She was unable to live at home, and had to move into a nursing home, initially West End Villa, then she moved into Carleton Lodge. Peter was able to join her at Carleton Lodge for the last few years of her life, and she enjoyed being perambulated around in her wheelchair by her ever attentive Peter. She was predeceased by her first France, in 1947, and is survived by Peter, and her children Graham (Judy) and Tina (Terry), as well as her grandchildren, Allison, Andrew. Melissa and Michelle, and great-grandchildren Rebecca, Henry, Grace and Morgen. Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of her life to be held on Wednesday, April 20 from 1:00 p.m.
