yet opened a branch in Central Utah. The mayor will explain the city's concept of a downtown mail which involves using several blocks for department store activity and tying them together with air conditioned tunnels to span city streets and parking areas. The blocks include the one now a large parking lot on the northern two thirds of the block south of First North and between First and Second West. It also includes the P.E. Ashton block to the north and perhaps the Taylor Square and Sears department stores.

One city official suggested that the concept of tying stores together with walkways, joining doors and even overhead tunnels may be a viable alternative to earlier suggestions in city planning to create a downtown mall of the type now existing in Orem. City planning staffers are now talking in terms of a "lateral mail" where shoppers could walk from one store to another without having to brave the elements outside. One staffer told the city commissioners that several merchants had complained that Christmas shopping was down in Provo this year and he wondered whether it could be partly blamed on the extreme cold before Christmas. in other activity designed to promote business and industry, the Provo City Commissioners are working on three industrial sites all at once. They are not willing to say much about them at this stage, but they are spending a considerable amount of time on the project formerly called Four Seasons, and on obtaining industrial property elsewhere in the city.

374-0580 Rare Bush Cat Killed In County What appears to be a Serval bush cat, a small African variety, was found Tuesday in Hobble Creek Canyon by four local cat trappers. Bernell Stubbs and Loran, Chuck and John Glazier take their dogs cat trapping regularly. They sighted the small cat several times Monday as the dogs chased it. At one time a member of the party thought it might be a fox because of the unusually bushy tail. The dogs usually tree the cats which are then captured and later turned loose, but when the three dogs caught the unusual animal Monday they killed it before the trappers could rescue it.

The Glaziers and Mr. Stubbs have been trapping cats for some time, but they had to resort to an enevelopedia to aid them in identifying the animal. Mr. Stubbs reported the trappers were having no luck this vear before the incident but have done very well since then.
