Fear not, CEO of Geisinger says Page 1 tion, this week said he believes any complaints are unfounded. Holden could not be reached for comment, but state Reps. Bob Allen, R-125, and state Rep. David G. Argall, R-124, said they will continue to work on the situation.

"My fears have not been allayed," Allen said. "The employers and employees have legitimate concerns, not so much about today, but next week, next month and next year," added Argall. The legislators plan to meet again to decide where to go from here, Allen said. In a letter to Holden this week, Heydt explained that the seven physicians currently working at Geisinger's Schuylkill Pediatrics serve more than 17,000 patients, and just 3 percent of those are members of the Geisinger Health Plan. Approximately 35 percent of the patients are on medical assistance, and the practice accepts full insurance participation from several other health plans. They include Berkshire Health Plan, Champus, Health Pass, Teamsters, Custom Blue, Hershey Life Style, Blue Blue Shield Indemnity Plan and Premier Blue. "This is a very busy group of doctors," Heydt said. "We're not turning anyone away." However, patients on their own health plan must be the top priority.

"As we grow, if push came to shove and we had limited capacity to accept new patients, we would offer a preference to GHP (Geisinger Health Plan) patients," he said. "It's our contractual obligation, and certainly we're going to be there for them." Allen said he hopes the recent discussions have heightened public awareness about coming changes in health care. NEW RINGGOLD A helicopter circled and two bloodhounds cris-crossed the town Friday as state police searched for an would-be armed robbery. But by 6 p.m., no suspect had been found so the search was ended. No one was hurt in the robbery attempt, which happened at 2:45 p.m. when a man wearing a ski mask entered The Corner Delikatessen, Railroad and Hughes streets, state police at Frackville said. Deli workers reported nothing missing, although there was a purse and cash register on the counter.

The man was described as a white male in his late teens or 20s, wearing a plaid hooded shirt and wide-leg jeans, and standing about 5-feet, 8-inches tall. Store manager Theresa L. Hess, New Ringgold, was working alone when the man came in to the one-room store and demanded money. "A young guy came in to try to rob the deli," she said afterward, as she stood outside. "He had a gun in his left hand, and he was waving it around, swinging it around.

We're there 11 years and nothing ever happened like that." With the meat slicer spinning and the water running, she dashed out the back door to escape, she said. "I don't even know if it was a real gun or not, but it got me moving." She went into her home, next door to the where her mother called Police soon arrived, but the man had fled and run along a railroad bed heading south. Troopers called in a helicopter to scan a 2-mile radius from the air. Police also called in Blue Mountain Bloodhounds, a Bethel, Berks County, search-andrescue service that brought a pair of 2-year-old dogs, Nell and Tina. "The dogs either got tired, which I doubt, or they ran out of scent," said the handler, who would not give his name.

He wore camouflage fatigues, a bulletproof vest and had a pistol in a belt holster. Store workers were unfazed by the excitement. By 4:15 p.m., the deli was already doing business again, as clerk Peggy Latshaw, New Ringgold, started her shift just 15 minutes late. "if it ever happens to me, I know what I'm going to do run out back," she said, as she prepared a ham and cheese sub for a customer. Police are asking anyone with information to call them at 874-0207.
