The shooting occurred as the two were examining a loaded gun in the teen's apartment early Wednesday morning, Police Department officials reported.

The victim, Enoch Wright, of Lawrence St, suffered a single gunshot wound to the stomach, at 12:25 a.m. Wednesday. He was rushed to Long Island College Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Investigators said Wright was sitting with Torrey Anderson, 15, in Anderson's second-floor apartment on Columbia St when the shooting occurred. Detectives said that other people were in the apartment but the police refused to reveal further details.

"The two appeared to be working on the weapon when Torrey handed the gun to Wright and it went off," said a Police Department spokesman. "The weapon has not been recovered." The police say that despite his youth, Anderson will be treated as an adult in the death.
