High winds whipped up waves on the southern shores of the Great Lakes, and beach erosion was expected in New York and Ohio. Snow was scattered over the Great Lakes and from western Kansas across Colorado and northern Montana-Rain fell over North Carolina and much of Virginia overnight, with freezing rain and snow in Maryland and West Virginia. Freezing rain also was scattered over Oklahoma and Arkansas, and rain fell over Oregon and Washington state. Conditions elsewhere Temperatures around the nation at 2 a.m. EST ranged from 3 degrees below zero at Limestone, Maine, to 68 at Key West Fla.

itaaries Ob Anna S. Dietrich Andrew O. Rosak Stanley Felter Stanley Felter, 77, of Nuremberg, died Monday in his winter residence in Frost Proof, Fla. He was born in Oneida, Dec. 22, 1909, a son of the late Eli and Elizabeth Hausenpugh Felter.

A retired truck driver, he was last employed by James Helm Diary, Espy. Mr. Felter was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Nuremberg, and the Teamsters Union. He was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Hazel Ulshafer, and five brothers, Arthur, Zack, Harold, Clarence, and Edward, and a sis Michael Makowski Michael Makowski, of 757 Pine Kulpmont, died unexpectedly Saturday in Mount CarmeL He was born in Danville, a son of Helen Bartko Makowski, of Kulpmont, and the late Charles Makowski. He was a graduate of Mount Carmel High School.

He was a foreman for Pine Grove Homes Pine Grove. He was a member of St Casimir's Church, Kulpmont and was a trustee of Anthracite Fire Company, Mount CarmeL Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, the former Carmella Cole; two sons, Michael and David, both of Mount Carmel; three brothers, Charles, Ranshaw, Richard, Aurora, Ohio, and Harry, Kulpmont; a sister, Regina Meehan, Dale City, nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated this morning in St. Casimir's Anthony J. Sockel Anthony J.

SockeL 84, of 3078 Salisbury Drive, Allentown, died Monday while landscaping in Lower Macungie Township. Lehigh County Coroner Robert C. Weir attributed death to natural causes. Mr. Sockel was born in Mahanoy City, a son of the late Stanley and Anna Sockel.

He was a self-employed land-scaper in the Lehigh Valley area since 1943. He was a member of St. Thomas More Church, Salisbury Township. He and his wife, the former Mary E. Stiger, observed their 50th wedding anniversary in August A son, Ronald, died in 1975.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Stephanie, Lighthouse Point, two grandchildren; a great-grandson; two sisters, Anna Corson, Port Carbon, and Frances Socket Tamaqua. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Thomas Moore Church. There will be no calling hours Wednesday evening.

Interment will be in Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Owl Creek. Weber Funeral Home, Allentown, is in charge of arrangements. Andrew O. Rosak, 67, of 247 E.

Ridge Lansford, died Monday in Lehigh Valley Hospital Center. He was born in Lansford, a son of the late Andrew and Anna Malik Rosak. He was a World War II veteran and served with the 486th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion of the Third Army in Europe. He was a miner at No. 9 Colliery of Lehigh Navigation and Coal and retired in 1981 from Parket Enterprises of Pennsylvania.

He was a member of St John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, Lansford. Surviving are his wife, the former Helen Manjack; a son, Michael, Allen-town; three brothers, John and Steve, both in Ohio, and Robert, in Louisiana; four sisters, Helen Kusak and Irene Basile, both of Ohio, Betty Rie-chelderther, Norristown, and Margaret Kosta, New York City. Services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday from John Puschak Funeral Home, Coaldale. Office of Christian Burial with Divine Liturgy will be offered at 9 a.m.

He was a social member of Good Will Hose Company, Pottsville. Surviving are his wife, the former Barbara Jane Quinn; five sons, Joseph, Summit Station, Keith, William, and Michael, all at home, and Kenneth, Minersville; a grandchild; a brother, Francis, of Keleen, Texas; a sister, Betty Urffer, Schuylkill Haven; his step-mother, Minnie Zimmerman; nieces and nephews. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Mahanoy City, and American Legion, Post 398, Frackville. Surviving are a sister, Anna Cu-sati, Girardville; nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday from Truskowsky Funeral Home, Mahanoy City. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 10 a.m.

Mease, 79, of 5218 Eighth Court West Bradenton, died Sunday in Manatee Hospital, Bradenton. He was a former resident of Har-risburg. Mr. Mease was known in the mining industry in Schuylkill County, especially in the Tower City area. He was a retired supervisor for Glen Gary Brick Berks County.

He was a member of Pleasant Lake United Methodist Church in Michigan. Surviving are his wife, Lucille Rives Junction, a son, the Rev. Ronald F. Mease, Williamsport; two stepsons, Gary and William James, both of Rives Junction; a daughter, Alice M. Weiser, Mechanicsburg; four grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; two great-grand children; five step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth, Venice, a sister, Elsie Zimmerman, Newport Services will be held at 11 a.m.
