J. Peninger Co. BUSTER McGUIRE KILLED. Shot at International Hotel by J. F.

Lillard, Dying Instantly. About 9:30 last Friday Bight, Buster McGuire, a well known young man of this place, was shot and instantly killed at the International Hotel by J. F. Lillard, a prominent business man of Decatur. There are conflicting accounts of what happened and this paper deems it prop er to leave to the courts the un-j raveling of the facts in the case It seems lhat there had been trouble between the two men for some time.

Lillard was hoarding at the hotel named, and itap pears that McGuire had been employed by Mrs. fe. O. Cates, owner of the building, to do some repairing on a water tank and was there for that purpose when the difficulty arose. There were but few witnesses to the affair, and it is impossible to state at this time how the trouble arose or just what occurred, but the result was that McGuire was' shot three times, twice through the body and once in the hand, dying almost instantly.

Officers, a physician and legal counsel were summoned aud soon arrived on the scene. Justice Allison held an inquest, after which Lillard waived examining trial and his bond was placed at $5,000, which he gave and was released. people live at Fort Worth. A number of them, in. eluding his father and mother, came up the next day, and the body was taken to Fort Worth for burial.

This is in every way a regrettable affair and much deplored by our people. LAKE VALLEY. Cotton picking is in full blast in this section. K. Hunter and daughter are improving after severe cases of slow fever.
